Celeb-worthy hair for less

I’m pretty sure I’m not alone on this one. I’m always looking for products to keep my hair silky soft and repair heat damage from my beloved (yet evil) flat iron. And I hate to admit it but I’m sort of a hair product snob. I usually look to expensive or salon-approved lines of products because I feel like I’ll get better results. Which, to-date, has been effective.

But I have recently fallen for one easily accessible and affordable line of products. The Herbal Essences Hydralicious shampoo and conditioner (launched in 2008). After one use, I found my hair to be extra smooth and silky soft. Each product only reatils for $3.99 so that’s an added bonus.

I also use the Long Term Relationship Leave-in Split End Protector which is also only$3.99. It’s great for moisturizing hair but I picked up a fun little tip about it from Charles Baker Strahan, North American Celebrity Hairstylistfor Herbal Essences. It’s also great for tucking in your flyaways.

While I had the chance to meet with Charles, I asked him alot about the new line and since he styles hair for celebs like Blake Lively and Leighton Meester, I trust his professional opinion. Hydralicious is one of his fave hair product systems and with good reason. Aside from being super effective, you can purchase the items with whatever loose change you find in your sofa or car!

Bonus: Charles also took a minute to show me how to make a fab ‘do in no-time. He seperated my hair into three sections (horizonatlly). He took the top section, split it in two and tied the two sections of hair together in a loose knot. He did the same for the other two sections. Then he tucked in the ends with bobby pins and in less than 3 minutes, I had this red carpet-ready ‘do (pictured below).

I used Hydralicious that morning and it made the hairtsyle way easier to achieve. If your hair is too coarse, it might be more difficult, so make life easier on yourself and make sure your hair is hydrated and smooth before attempting this look. Get a friend to try it out on you and you can do it for her. It’s perfect when you have a last-minute party and don’t know what to do with your locks.

While we’re on the topic, what products do you use for softer hair? Would you be willing to put Hydralicious to the test?
