Sneak Peek at Fall 2012: Lancôme Midnight Roses

Not that I’m in any way anxious for the summer weather to depart, but Lancôme‘s Fall 2012 Midnight Roses Limited Edition Collection just had to be featured. The collection is smoking. Read on to see the products up close and find out why I’m completely loving them.

This limited edition collection won’t be out until mid-September 2012 but it’s never too early to start planning your purchases for an upcoming season. As you may have noticed, dark purple and burgundy hues are on trend for fall 2012.

I’ll start with my first favourite: Moonlight Rose Illuminating Blush Highlighter ($48). This powder is super shimmering. I like to dust it on the apples of my cheeks to give my face a brighter finish. Avoid powdering this all over your face. Too much shimmer can get real bad, real fast! Less is more with this powder. It’s shimmer all the way through – not just on the surface. Don’t you hate when you buy a shimmering blush and after you dust off the first layer, it’s matte? #annoying

As I mentioned, dark colours are in for fall 2012 but they don’t have to blah. I find Vernis In Love in Infusion de Prune ($16) and Brilliant à Lèvres L’Absolue Crème Mat in Magie Pourpre ($35) to be very bold and pretty. The matte gloss is so gorgeous and the colour is super-pigmented. I feel so sexy with this gloss on. There’s also a matte lipstick for gals who like to stick the traditional.

Also on trend for fall 2012 are perfectly structured eyebrows. You’ll see lots of brow kits popping up all over the place this season. Whenever you’ve got dark, bold lips, you have to balance off the look by keeping the eyes simple but neat and clean. You can opt for the brow-shaping powder to fill in the gaps or go for the gel to fix those unruly brows in place all day. I’m all about perfectly coiffed brows – they’re an often under-estimated or completely forgotten element of makeup application. Trust me, they make all the difference.

This collections is limited edition – as seems to be the case with anything we like these days! So you’ll have to move quick when the collection launches. Which items are your favourites?
