Me Fingers Are Sparklin’ With Glam Slam and Shatters by OPI

OPI is just exploding with product launches this summer but some of their most talked about newbies include the Serena Williams Glam Slam Duos ($20.95 per set) and the Shatter Polish ($10.95) available in a variety of awesome shades. I started out with the Glam Slam sparkling shades: Spark de Triomphe ( shimmering silver glitter polish) and Rally Pretty Pink (a gorge sunset pink glitter).

I actually super love these polishes alone, but they each come with a shatter polish, the newest sensation to hit the world of nail colours. I covered my Spark de Triomphe with one coat of White Shatter. In mere seconds, the polish cracked and turned from this….

    ….to this:

With my Rally Pretty Pink Polish, I paired Red Shatter. I absolutely adore the glittery pink by itself:

But the red shatter definitely shakes things up a little bit.

Aside from this amazing red, you can also snag the shatter polish in one of three amazing blue shades: cobalt, indigo and sapphire.

You can get these fabulous new polishes from OPI at select salons and spas. Check their website for more retail info. What do you think of shatter polish? Is it utterly hot? Or completely off the radar for you?

NARS Duo Eyeshadow Cream in Burn It Blue

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, blue is going to be a major player in fall 2010’s trend book. Designers like Derek Lam, Jason Wu and Diane Von Furstenberg all hit the runways with smoky blue eyes, a trendy new take on the traditional black and grey smoky eye we’ve been seeing over the last few years.

I love the idea of rocking the smoky look with a twist by opting for blue (or even green) instead. NARS Duo Cream Eyeshadow is going to be a must-have item this year. Though the item is already on sale and can be purchased for summer, it’ll carry you well into the cooler months to come.

This duo combines the best of both worlds: the bold and daring intense blue, and the soft, light blue. You can add the darker colour only to the lower lids, or blend it with the lighter blue. You can also opt for light blue lids and brow bones with the darker blue in the crease. Feel free to experiment any way you like because all variations of the shade are in for next season.

I am a big fan of cream shadows in general because they’re easy to blend with your fingertips and they leave a shimmering finish behind. The only problem with cream eyeshadows used to be that the product could sometimes build up in the creases of the lids. But remember that since cream eyeshadows first hit the market, this problem has been fixed by most reputable brands. I don’t find the texture of this particular product to be thick or greasy in any way so you should easily avoid that icky problem.

Word of caution: be careful how much you pack on. The great thing about cream shadows is that you don’t need to put on loads of it to get the look you want. Less is more. This will also help prevent product build-up. No matter how light a product is, if you layer on too much, it’ll clump up on your skin.

Get a head start on fall with this Duo Cream Eyeshadow from NARS in Burn It Blue ($38) available online at and NARS counters across Canada.
