Which Colour Team Are You On This Spring?

MAKE UP FOR EVER, known for the vivacious colours brought to us by French creator, Dany Sanz, has got me all torn up this season. With Team Brights and Team Pastels in their spring collection (currently available at Sephora) I find it hard to be loyal to just one team. Read on for  closer look at the colourful products ad cast your vote for your fave.

Bright Nail Colours for Fall from Yves Rocher

For all you nail polish freaks out there, you’re going to love Yves Rocher‘s new fall 2011 nail lacquers. In fall, we tend to gravitate toward darker colours and put our brights aside. But there are plenty of colour options we can turn to for the fall season and Yves Rocher obviously feels the same way. Read on to see how my two fave Yves Rocher nail polishes ($9 each) look.

Shimmering Eyeshadow from Lise Watier AND You Can Buy it Online

Lise Watier is launching their all-new e-boutique next week on April 25. For online shopaholics, like myself, this is awesome news. I actually hate shopping in stores nowadays. The online world is so much easier to navigate through and way less crowded. If you’re planning on shopping the Lise Watier website when the online boutique launches next week, you may want to check out the Duo Shadow & Glitter ($25).

The great part about these eyeshadows is that they are loaded with glitter but the glitter doesn’t wind up all over your eyes, face and the bathroom floor, which usually happens with loose powders. This creation is so simple and easy that I’m wondering why I didn’t think of it first! First, flip the top and apply the coloured cream shadow as a base. This silky smooth colour acts as a base for the glitter to stick to.

(This is me sweeping some colour onto the silicone brush. Thank God for this thing!)

To make application ridiculously simple, just use the Glitter Eyeshadow Brush ($15). It’s actually a flat silicone applicator which neatly picks up the loose powder glitter inside the jar and places it on the eyelids. I like to smooth the cream colour all over the eye and save the glamorous glitter for the lids only.

If you’re like me, you’ll love Wild Orchid, this amazing purple hue. Here are the two other shades:

Blue Ray (a must, especially for blue-eye gals)

Golden Wasabi (the perfect eyeshadow to complement a summer glow)

These goodies will be launching this month. Keep your eyes peeled for them when you check out the new e-boutique next week!

    Spring Trend: Flashy Fingertips

This fall and winter was all about deep, dark shades, but spring/summer 2011 is about anything but. The trend is moving toward ultra-bright fingertips and it just doesn’t get any brighter than Powerful Pink Nailwear Pro Nail Enamel ($5.99) from Avon.

Available in four shades, my personal faves are Powerful Pink and Vivid Violet (which I actually have on my toes right now). I like the ultra high-shine finish of these polishes. It’s like having gloss on your fingernails. It’s definitely the flashiest line of nail colours I’ve seen so far this season so if you’re anxious to get on this trend, check out Avon’s website starting in March 2011.

As usual, these polishes are toluene-formaldehyde- and phthalate-free. But the best part is that these salon-quality lacquers can last up to 10 days. Say goodbye to nail touch-ups and say hello to spring’s vibrant and bright trend.

Hot Right Now: Neon Pink Nail Polish

I got another biosculpture pedi done last week and I ventured out into the world of neon shades. I was a little uncertain about how I would feel about sporting this flashy spring trend, but as it turns out, I’m loving it. I’m already a fan of pink in general but the neon colour is all-around fantastic.

Fashion has been greatly influenced by the 80s the past few seasons and as we already know, fashion and beauty trends go hand-in-hand. This un-traditional pink that rocked the 80s has been spotted on celebs like Lauren Conrad and Christina Aguilera this spring. I’m wearing biosculpture gel on my toesies (more info on that here) but there are a few brands that have come out with the perfect shades of neon pink this summer so you can rock this trend like a pro.

Essie, Chanel and OPI are just a few of my favourite go-to nail polish brands that offer shockingly vibrant neon pink hues. While neon pink is my personal fave, the trend isn’t limited to just the one colour. If neon green, yellow, orange or blue suit your taste more, go for it.

I only have one tip. No, wait. Make that a suggestion that is not to be ignored. If you opt for neon bright fingertips or toesies, keep in mind that it’s one or the other. It’s great to experiment with trends but there’s no need to bathe in the trend from head-to-toe. Your fingernails and toe nails should never both have neon polish on them. It’s just too much. And although the 80s trend is in full swing for now, there’s no reason to overdo it. Not only is it an eye sore, but it takes away from the beauty of the trend.

Will you be experimenting with neon nail polish on your fingernails or toe nails this summer? What are some of your favourite shades?

OPI’s Summer Flutter Nail Polish is almost here

If you’re obsessed with nail polish, you’ll be very happy to know that OPI is adding a few more limited edition summer colours to their already large array of nail polish shades.

Summer Flutter is hitting salons in early June, which is just a couple of weeks away. The four shades are: Flit A Bit, a bright orange shade; Flower-to-Flower, a super pretty hot pink; Catch Me In Your Net, a trendy teal shade; Wing It, a shimmering fuchsia (my personal fave).

As I’ve already mentioned, bright colours are a must this summer. If flashy eyeshadows or glosses are just too far out of your comfort zone, this nail polish collection is a great way to sport the brights trend without going too far overboard. Nails (especially toe nails) are fun to colour and less risky than opting for something like pink metallic lip gloss.

The funky Summer Flutter Limited Edition Collection from OPI (BTW, isn’t the display just adorable?) is on its way and each nail polish will retail for $10.95. For more info on where to find these new shades, you can check out OPI.com or call 800-341-9999.

Which nail polish colours are you planning on experimenting with this summer? Are you going to dare to be bold? I myself just put shimmering purple on my nails, which is a huge change from the usual basic manicure I stick with. I was iffy about it at first, but now I’m loving it. I’m all over the bright colour trend this summer!
