I actually have never cared much about Emma Watson. And then she cut her hair and I fell in love with her ‘do. Now she’s one of my favourite celebs ever! I love how she rocks this amazing cropped cut. Truly one of the first celebs to get on this trend, Emma pulls off the hottest look of the summer perfectly and she looks absolutely gorgeous.

Lucky for you, Nhi Tran, Creative Director at Sassoon Salon Toronto has given me some great tips on how you can pull off a short ‘do this summer, too. Before we get into maintenance, remember to discuss which style bob suits your face best with your hairstylist first: layered, extra short, or fringed. Here are some of my favourite bobs for summer to get you thinking.

The Fringed Bob: This extra cropped cut, just like Emma’s, is among the easiest to maintain but it’s definitely a trend for the bold and daring.

The Asymmetrical Bob: This longer version of the cropped cut is ultra-hot and super chic for summer 2011. I love the smooth, straight texture of it and the asymmetrical shape makes it both elegant and modern.

The Extreme Side Part Bob: Parting hair on the side is out and extreme side parts are taking over. The separation being all the way to one side makes the cropped hairstyle edgy and rock chic. I recommend this look for the gals who aren’t shy to make a statement.
Once you’ve got your bob in place, Nhi Tran has three fab product choices you’ll need to maintain your new trendy hairstyle. She recommends Davines For Wizards Sea Salt Primer No. 14 for the messy, beachy look Emma’s got going on. This sea salt-based styling product will give your hair texture, volume and the perfect messy look.
For evenings when you may seeking a little more of a smooth look, Nhi recommends Davines For Wizards Mat Forming Ground No. 13. This product will give your shorter hair structure and body even though it promises strong hold.
If you have coloured cropped hair, Nhi suggests Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum. This new nourishing product will keep your coloured hair, soft, smooth and healthy, no matter what you do to style it.
The cropped hairstyle is super easy to maintain for summer is definitely a huge trend for 2011. Will you dare to try it this season? If you do, send me pics to post on the blog!
