Is it just me or is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley so gorgeous, it’s scary? While I don’t think I’ll be standing in line for my tickets to the new Transformers flick, I do really like this actress/model. She’s got that natural beauty you don’t get to see too often in Hollywood these days. That probably just makes Megan Fox hate her even more! Anyhoo, I bring this lovely lady to your attention today for a specific reason: her glow. Keep reading to find out why she rocks it!

It wouldn’t be an official new year kick off without the mention of MAC‘s newest limited edition collection sated to hit counters this Thursday, January 6. Known as the Master of Modern Bollywood, Mickey Contractor (MAC‘s Director of Makeup Artistry for India) has created a collection that I think fits into just about every girl’s bare essentials category.
While bold colours are hot this season, offsetting vibrant hues with nudes and taupes is oh-so-trendy for 2011. Only available till February, this amazing collection has me speechless…well not too speechless for a blog but you catch my drift.
The campaign images for this collection are absolutely breathtaking. The neutral palette, natural glow and seemingly perfect complexion have me awaiting January 6 a little too eagerly. I think I’m going to buy up this entire collection because apparently, my extensive MAC makeup collection (among other fab products) isn’t enough. Obsessed? Probably, but who could blame me?
I think the Lipglass in Nude ($17.50) is first on my list. The creamy dirty brown shade is perfect for offsetting heavy eyes which is a whole other obsession I have. To get that perfect looking glow, I’m definitely going to need Select Moisturecover Concealer ($25). It’s ideal for covering nasty zits, red patches, tiny flaws and the ever-so-hated under-eye bags. To get the pictur perfect look seen in the campaign shots above, you don’t need to invest in Photoshop. Just opt for this creamy, long-lasting concealer and top it off with a foundation and light layer of finshing powder (for the dewy look).
Are you as anxious to try out MAC + Mickey Contractor as I am? Which products are dying to snag? Eyeshadow, blush, concealer, lipstick, the oh-so-covetable lipglass?Tags: 2011, collection, complexion, concealer, cosmetics, limited edition, MAC Cosmetics, Mickey Contractor, online shopping, shopping
You know about it, we all do. That minute where you go to washroom and take a look at yourself after being at a party for a few hours and wonder what the heck happened? Unfortunately, with all the makeup, partying, eating and greeting, most people tend to get oil build-up on their face by the time the clock strikes 12. That can make your face shine and your makeup look like it’s melting off your face.
I actually have dry/combination skin and when I am wearing my SPF moisturizer and evening makeup, I sometimes get oil build-up, too. It doesn’t just happen at parties, it happens everywhere, including work. Before I discovered Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder ($35), I would start my day off with matte, flawless skin and end the day with shiny skin.
This new product is one of the best mattifying powders I have ever tried but I must warn you, it’s extremely potent stuff. The first time I applied it, I applied the way I would any other powder. Big mistake! This powder is made to dry out oil so it will severely dry your skin if you put too much or apply where you don’t need it.
I now apply it with a blush brush and only to my T-zone, which is where most oil build-up is. Just a quick sweep and no matter what the circumstances, my skin stays shine-free all day…even through to the evening. It’s incredible.
It also has oil blotting sheets so if you keep this compact with you all day, you can dry up any excess oil that sneaks up on you. Given all the holiday parties and pictures that will be taken in the next few weeks, I suggest you arm yourself against a shiny complexion with this. You can find Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder at Pharamaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations.RELATED BLOGS:Tags: beauty, compact powder, complexion, dry skin, Holiday 2010, holiday., Lise Watier, makeup, matte powder, mineral powder, oily skin, oily t-zone, online shopping, shopping
I love the affordable and accessible makeup out there but once in a while, a cosmetic indulgence is allowed. My new fave luxe product? This Concealer Stick from Clé de Peau Beauté. Though the stick retails for $85, I truly believe it’s worth it.
First of all, I’ve had the concealer stick for months and have only used it for seriously bad pimples that seem to haunt me day and night! Those nasty ones are hard to conceal. I figured I’d give this pricey stick the ultimate test by putting it up against a fierce pre-menstrual zit (too much info?). Well much to my surprise, in one dab, the concealer did the trick and I’ve been swearing by it ever since.
This isn’t a product you rub all over your face every single day so even though it’s pricey, it seems to me like it’ll last for years and years. I use it sparingly and it’s a total life saver. It really hides well and more importantly, it holds all day long. The reason I think it holds so well is because it isn’t greasy or wet. It’s a very dry stick. Moist products will eventually seep into the skin and wear away but this one doesn’t.
The makeup remains as is unless you smudge it yourself. I recommend it for anyone but it’s great for oily skins. If you have oily skin, you know how hard it can be to find makeup that can withstand the excess sebum leaking from your pores. This concealer stick won’t absorb the oil on your skin so it remains in tact no matter what.Tags: base, beauty, camouflage, Clé de Peau Beauté, complexion, concealer, foundation, Holt Renfrew, luxe products, luxury, makeup, Ogilvy, shopping, stick
The most recent addition to the MAC Cosmetics line is Prêt-à-Papier, the ultimate in nude makeup. It’s no secret that beiges and nudes are hot for spring and summer 2010 but MAC’s take on the trend is one of my favourites.
The collection is made up of sheer and mineralized makeup that varies from parchment to vellum beiges and leaves behind nothing but a seamless finish. The only hint of colour is a touch of coral from time to time. Coral is a great summer staple and it perfectly complements a nude complexion and natural-looking eyes.
Some of my fave products from this limited edition collection (available only until July 2010) are the Nail Lacquer ($14.50) and Paint Pot ($20). The shiny, nude polish is a must-have for any beauty addict out there. I’ve already spotted nude nails on celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow, Drew Barrymore and Kate Beckinsale. It’s hot!
The Paint Pot is a MAC essential that I just love. You can mix it with eyeshadows or liners or wear it alone. I love versatile items like this because they allow you to create a new and unique look every time you use it. Plus, the formula glides on smoothly and leaves an intense finish behind.
Take it easy on the makeup this summer and opt for natural-looking beauty instead. Get a closer look at the Prêt-à-Papier collection here.

L’Oréal Paris’ True Match Roller Perfecting Roll On Makeup is truly innovative, to say the least. It’s the first of it’s kind and after vibrating makeup hit, I didn’t think makeup application could get any easier.
It’s not only quick and easy to use but the coverage is the best I have ever seen. The applicator works in the same way a roll on paint brush works on the wall, which makes me wonder why no one ever thought of this before. Simply glide it along your face and just like that, even coverage! Even though the applicator looks rigid, it’s not. So you can easily apply makeup everywhere, including around the nose. It’s flexible.
As you can see in the photo below, applying with the fingers can sometimes leave streaks. I recommend never applying with your fingers. EVER! If you don’t want to use this product, at least use a makeup sponge or foundation brush. Otherwise, you risk having a streaky face. Not hot! The roll on applicator, however, leaves an even, streak-free finish.
The True Match technology works, too, much to my surprise. It adapts to your skin tone and blends in seamlessly so it doesn’t even look like you have any makeup on at all. Plus, it gives amazing, long-lasting coverage. I actually cancelled an appointment to have my makeup done for a party because I don’t need a pro’s help when I have this. Plus, it’s way cheaper. It retails for $18.95.
My only advice? Don’t roll the applicator in the makeup too many times before applying it and don’t press it too firmly on your skin. I did and I looked like a corpse! It’s very heavy if you don’t apply it properly so be careful with it. As long as you apply only a light veil, you’ll be amazed by the results.

Is it just me, or does it seem like everyone you know owns a 12 mega-pixel camera so they can take close up shots of you that they’ll no doubt post to Facebook without your knowledge? In a world where anyone and everyone can get up close and personal, high definition makeup is a must.
MAKE UP FOR EVER to the rescue! Their high definition line of foundation is absolutely amazing. It covers every single flaw and leaves skin with a smooth finish. That’s why I was so excited to try out the new HD blush.
I’ve been using the High Definition Blush in #8 Pinky Nude for the last few weeks and I am head over heels for it. The colour is intense, long-lasting and it has a second-skin texture. So no matter how close or clear a photo is, my makeup never looks caked on, thick or dry. It blends in seamlessly with my skin for a flawless and professional look.
