Loves: OPI Avojuice Skin Quenchers in Hibiscus Blossom

I’m so into OPI Avojuice hand and body lotions. I have been carrying a tiny peach-scented bottle around with me for the longest time. I adore the super fruity smells and the creams are so hydrating, yet non-greasy. They really feel fantastic on the skin and the sweet smell is just an added bonus! And since they’re made by OPI, you know they’re going to be great for nails, too. This new scent, Hibiscus Blossom, is made with avocado and aloe extracts so it really penetrates the skin, soothes and smoothes.

You can pick up this new scent now at professional spas and salons where OPI products are sold. The 200ml bottle retails for only $9.95. Have you tried these fab lotions before? Or are you an Avojuice Newbie?

Scars? Stretch Marks? Nix ‘Em With Skin Therapy Oil

If you’re not well-acquainted with Palmer’s, you should start getting to know them right now. I have been a long-time fan of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Shea Butter Cream. I apply the cream to my hands every night before bed because I once read the first signs of aging appear on the hands! To avoid such a horrible thing, I moisturize all the time — I’m borderline OCD about it. And that little jar makes my hands silky smooth each and every night.

Why do I love this new oil? Find out!

Get the Perfect Pedicure This Summer…Please!

If there’s one thing I hate seeing in summertime, it’s dry, cracked feet in a pair of sexy slingback sandals. You can go for the trendiest polish of the summer on your toes but if your feet aren’t in great shape, it won’t look fab at all.

Give yourself a pedicure with Yves Rocher’s new collection called Organic Lavender for Beautiful Feet. The products hit stores this month. I received my samples for testing about a month or so ago and I’ve been an addict ever since. Here are the products:

    Lavender Effervescent Tablet – $2
Just toss this little gem into a pail of water and soak your tired feet in it for about five to 10 minutes. This will soften your skin and make removing calluses and other unsightly foot conditions with ease.

    Polishing Foot Scrub – $11
This sweet-smelling scrub feels amazing. Scrub all around your feet and toes to get rid of dry or cracked skin, especially around the heels.

    Foot Repair Balm – $17
After soaking and scrubbing, apply this nourishing moisturizer to get your feet feeling as soft and smooth as possible.

    Nourishing Foot Cream – $9
To keep your feet silky smooth all summer long, apply some of this every night before bed.

    12H Foot Deodorant Cream – $16
This organic lavender cream will keep your feet from falling victim to foul smell. If you tend to have this problem. Try this cream every day to keep your feet fresh and smelling great.

    Anti-Fatigue Iced Gel – $9
This is by far my fave in the bunch. This extra cool gel works wonders after a long, hard day at work. Use it to rub your aching feet when you get back from work and I swear, you’ll be amazed by the spa-quality results.

Duo Body Butter from The Body Shop

I am not ashamed to admit it – I’m a body butter maniac! Is it a crime to want to soft, silky skin? I am constantly creaming myself up because I hate the feeling of dry skin and I want to keep my skin looking young and flexible as long as is humanly possible.

The Body Shop has just released a great new product that is going to make combination skin-sufferers very happy. The Body Butter Duo ($16) is divided into two sections: one for dry skin and one for normal skin. That way you can get extra hydration only where you need it. Too much moisture can make normal skin greasy so if you have combination skin like me, or have dryer areas like elbows and knees, you won’t have to buy several creams. Just this one!

If you’re familiar with The Body Shop’s body butters you know they’re loaded with my fave naturally hydrating ingredient: shea butter. They’ll leave your skin soft to the touch. Choose from one of their four fab aromas (Vanilla, Acai Berry, Sweet Pea and Macadamia) and you’ll have nothing but super supple skin this summer.

Why Not Give Myself a True Blue Spa Day?

I’m obsessed with the spa. If my life consisted only of spa days, I’m convinced I’d be perfectly happy. Unfortunately, I’m not as rich as my wants would like for me to be so my spa days are limited, but I do relish in the discovery of at-home spa products so I can upkeep my luxurious habits any time I want to. If you’re looking for a day of luxury, give it to yourself right after you head to Bath & Body Works and pick up these essentials.

This tiresome winter seems to be drawing to  close but who knows when it will finally relent? I still have the problem of dry hands so it’s not time to put away the heavy-duty moisturizers just yet. My newest obsession is the True Blue Spa Super Softening Hand Lotion ($20). It contains paraffin, olive, avocado, apricot oils and vitamin E so you can imagine how creamy it is. The paraffin acts as a sealant that keeps the moisture in and leaves your hands feeling silky soft (without the grease) way longer. It also has a light citrus scent which I’m loving.

The True Blue Spa Super Rich Body Cream ($18) is a luxe treatment that’s made with my favourite ingredient of all: shea butter. Nothing hydrates quite like it and I promise, it’s not greasy of gross. It feels like silk. Even though summertime is around the bend, a good moisturizer should always be in hand. I recommend moisturizing your whole body from head-to-toe every day for soft, supple skin.

And with pedi-season about to debut this year, no at-home spa day would be complete without Smoothing Foot Scrub ($15). I love scrubs! They feel amazing and they leave the skin really soft and smooth. If you have dry, cracked feet from the winter, this baby is going to save your feet! Happy spa-ing!

    Skin Care for the 30-Somethings

Skin care changes at every stage in life from our teens to our 20s, 30s, 40s and beyond. Every ten years, your sin care routine needs to adapt to the changes in your skin, the inevitable changes. For women in the 30 range, skin care can be a tough one. Do you go for anti-aging products aimed at the 40+ population? Do you go for the same creams you used at 20? No, and no again. You need a skin care routine that’s made for you.

L’Oréal Paris Youth Code ($29.99 per product) is the answer to your skin care woes. With GenActiv TechnologyTM, the new product line improves skin’s radiance, stimulates cellular renewal and reactivates the skin’s natural repair genes.

The Day + Night Cream can be used morning and night so you only need on jar of cream to take care of all your needs. I highly recommend applying a layer of Day Lotion SPF 30 every day, as well. Even in winter! SPF is the one and only way to prevent premature aging and you should be wearing protection every single day, all year round.

My favourite product is the Eye Cream. I believe anyone over 25 should be wearing eye cream. No matter how much you sleep or how much makeup you wear, the skin around the eyes is so sensitive that is very often looks tired and worn out. The eye cream really reduces signs of fatigue.

The Youth Code trio is perfect for women 30+ and can even be used on older women. I actually had my mother test this out and we both noticed her wrinkles and fine lines appeared less pronounced and her skin looked smoother and more radiant. You can try this new collection out for yourself anytime. The products are available in pharmacies right now. Effective, accessible and affordable — what more could you want?

L’Oréal Paris Magic Smooth Soufflé Makeup

Despite the texture of this velvety smooth soufflé-inspired product, I can assure you, it’s not a dessert! But it’s amazing how much it resembles one. The soufflé-like texture of this new foundation from L’Oréal Paris is as soft and light as it appears, but that’s not to say it isn’t great at covering up and concealing.

As usual, I apply concealer to problem areas and those annoying zits that seem to rear their ugly heads ever once in a while. Once the major flaws are covered, you can skip to foundation (this is the routine you should adopt with any foundation). I like to apply this one with a triangular-shaped makeup sponge.

Just dab the sponge in the fluffy mixture and very gently pat it down all over the face. Its remarkable texture literally melts onto the face and becomes almost like second skin. If you are careful when applying it, it can be a barely noticeable product. I like to gently dab the sponge all over the face, gently spreading on the makeup as I do so. If you press too hard or apply too much makeup, it will look thick, heavy and caked on. The product is very light and powerful so remember that a little goes a long way.

That also means that you’re $19.99 is going to go a lot further than you think. In this economy, great value is a must. Personally, I like to splurge on select beauty items from time to time, but when it comes to the basics, there is always a way to get it done for less. L’Oréal Paris foundations are known for their outstanding quality and wallet-friendly prices. Don’t suffer from uneven, discoloured or less-than-perfect looking skin anymore. Get your hands on this little lifesaver today!

One last thing: if you’re looking for extremely long-wear or planning on wearing a little more than usual on a hot day this summer, remember to apply a primer first to keep your skin matte and oil-free so the makeup stays in place as long as you need it to.
