Lancôme is launching a new collection next month and from what I’ve seen so far, I think it’s really going to be a hit this season. You may hear the phrase “Less is More” quite a bit this fall and that’s mostly because designers like Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney and Balenciaga hit the runways with makeup looks that embody those very words.
This fall 2010 trend simply means the emphasis this season should be on one area alone, whether it be the lips or eyes. A dark, sophisticated colour will take centre stage and natural makeup will be used to fill in the rest. French Coquette is a great collection to look to if you want to be on trend and get the same runway-worth look going on for yourself.
The first item I suggest is the French Touch Absolu Lipstick ($40). This limited edition lip colour is available in four different shades and each one of them encompass a truly femme fatale look. The best part is that the Less is More trend is one that’s easy to replicate with this jaw-dropping colour. If I had to describe this lipstick in a few words, I’d say it’s creamy, delicate, trendy and utterly glamorous. I have this lipstick in 306-Cherry Kiki which is a rich, matte burgundy (pictured above) and I absolutely love it.
To complement the intense lips and rock the trend like a pro, I recommend finishing off with a touch of black (or even brown) mascara and a light, illuminating face powder on the cheekbones for definition and depth. La Rose Déco ($47) is a limited edition rosy illuminator that will substitute blush. The French are known for looking glamorous and natural and this rosy cheek colour is perfect for that and won’t take away from the lipstick, either.
I love the texture of this illuminator and I love that it makes the apples of me cheeks looks naturally flushed with a soft, rosy glow. The touch of shimmer within the pressed powder contours my cheekbones and sculpts my face so with very little effort, my makeup looks complete, professional and very flattering.
The new French Coquette limited edition collection hits Lancôme counters, Lancôme.ca, select pharmacies and Sephora stores next month (September 2010). There are loads more great products in the collection for you to try out, as well, like magnificent shimmering eyeshadows called Ombre Magnétique ($47), two spectacular nail colours called Le Vernis ($16) and more.
