    What’s New: Dr. Hauschka Skin Care Products

    If you’re an avid reader of my blog, you know that Dr. Hauschka is one of the leading luxe brands on the market and one of my favourite splurge-worthy brands. I don’t recommend overspending on beauty too often, but if you’re going, these are the kinds of things you should be spending your hard-earned cash on.

    These new anti-aging skin care products regenerate mature skin. I wouldn’t recommend this for anyone under 30 but it’s good to start working on some more intense skin care regimes around that age. It can also help prevent premature wrinkles.

    The first product is the Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Eye Cream ($97). This product smoothes wrinkles caused by dryness and firms the skin. It contains a combination of Vitamins C, A and E and is also infused with antioxidant protection. Plus, it’s ophthalmologist tested so it’s been proven not to irritate the skin.

    Dr. Hauschka Regenerating Neck & Décolleté Cream ($88) is another fab new product. It contain pomegranate in a whole-fruit extract s well as macadamia nut oil, 32 times more antioxidants than vitamin C and rich fatty acids. It’s great for smoothing out the fine lines and wrinkles in this area which is one of the most noticeable spots.

    The sensitive eye area and the neck, which is exposed to sunlight and is often not protected, are areas that can age slightly quicker than other parts of the face so it’s important to keep them hydrated and conditioned at all times. If you’re looking for the ultimate antioxidant fix, splurge on Dr. Hauschka’s new products.

    The Holistic 24 Karat Gold Facial

    When this info made its way to my inbox, it immediately grabbed my attention. You didn’t misread that title. Today’s blog post is about a luxurious facial offered only at the Dr. Hauschka Spa in Montreal and yes, that’s 24K gold.

    Using cosmetic-grade gold leaves, Enaam Takla, co-owner of the Dr.Hauschka Spa in Montreal, has developed the Holistic 24 Karat Gold Facial. (This procedure brings new meaning to the word luxury.) It was developed to help diminish skin imperfections, rejuvenate the skin and minimize blemishes, wrinkles and fine lines. So the treatment really does target a little bit of everything.

    Gold being good for the complexion may seem like news to you but it’s actually an age-old secret. Cleopatra was said to sleep with a gold mask every night and, as we all know, her glowing complexion and flawless face is one that has attracted attention from all over the world throughout the centuries.

    The two-hour treatment offered at the Dr. Hauschka Spa in Montreal ($270 per treatment) stimulates the lymphatic system which makes the skin receptive to the benefits of the gold leaves which are spread and pressed onto the skin’s surface. The gold deeply penetrates the skin to release negative ions and get rid of free radicals (the enemy!).  The skin looks and feels more radiant after this holistic treatment.

    Skin Care Routine: Balance Oily Skin with Dr. Hauschka

    I know summer is still here but like it or not, the warmer season will soon be coming to an end and our skin will be faced with the harsh realities of fall and winter. If you have oily skin, then you know your face has accumulated lots of excess sebum throughout the ultra-humid summer we’ve had. Fall is a great time to balance your skin’s PH and control both excess sebum and severe dryness, both of which contribute to premature aging of the skin.

    Dr. Hauschka is a line of products focused on helping your skin regenerate itself naturally and maximize its power of healing. We may not be able to purchase loads of luxe beauty products like these, but here a few that I think some of you may want to consider if you’re looking to prevent and control excessively oily or dry skin.

    First, you may want to start with the Facial Steam Bath ($41). This product will open up your pores to allow you to unclog them and relieve them of excess sebum and dirt accumulation. Even if you wash your face everyday (as you should be!), there is always some excess that isn’t easily removed because it’s so deeply lodged into the skin’s pores. The Facial Steam Bath will liberate your skin of toxins which can create excessive oil or acne.

    The Cleansing Clay Mask ($46) is a great follow-up step. With the same natural ingredients and botanicals, it will absorb excess sebum and dirt build-up so you can easily rinse it away and put your best skin forward.

    Another product that may be worth while for your oily or combination skin this fall is the Normalizing Day Oil ($43). It contains apricot kernels, almond oils and St. John’s Wort (a natural healing herb). It helps control the sebum production of oil glands that have been overworked during the hot and humid summer. This will help balance the oil on your skin to prevent it from becoming too oily or from overly dehydrating (which is a nasty problem fall and winter bring along with them) throughout the season.
