Scars? Stretch Marks? Nix ‘Em With Skin Therapy Oil

If you’re not well-acquainted with Palmer’s, you should start getting to know them right now. I have been a long-time fan of Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Formula Shea Butter Cream. I apply the cream to my hands every night before bed because I once read the first signs of aging appear on the hands! To avoid such a horrible thing, I moisturize all the time — I’m borderline OCD about it. And that little jar makes my hands silky smooth each and every night.

Why do I love this new oil? Find out!

Get Your Legs Soft & Sexy This Summer With Luscious Embrace

I’m not sure where Olay ranks on your list of top beauty brands but if isn’t up high, it should be! If you’re a frequent reader of this page, you’re just as addicted to beauty products as I am so you’ll probably love the new line of Luscious Embrace goodies as much as I do.

I have to start with the Luscious Embrace Body Wash ($6.99 – $10.99) with Jojoba Butter and Crushed Orchid Extract. This ultra-luxurious lotion smells as divine as it sounds and I’m such a huge fan of it. If orchids aren’t your thing, you can try the Silk Whimsy Rose Extract & Almond Oil scent instead. Equally as fabulous! This body was is so nourishing and it feels so smooth on the skin. It really fills up your shower and bathroom with its sweet smelling aroma and I swear it can put you in a better mood.

After showering, I can’t stop using the Body Lotion ($6.99 – $10.99). It’s a very light cream with a whipped texture to it yet it’s super hydrating. It doesn’t leave skin greasy either, which is often the case with scented lotions. This one absorbs quickly and leaves just a slight aroma behind. I love it. But then again, I’m addict who moisturizes my skin twice a day every day!

With summer coming up, I have to urge you to try this out. No summer outfit looks good with dry elbows, knees or feet. (OMG, the dry feet drive me crazy!) Pick up these amazing budget-friendly goodies at a drug store near you today!

Olay Cleansers are Giving Me Fabulous Skin

My new favourite skin care products are these amazing Olay 2-in-1 Daily Facial Cloths. They’re super soft pieces of fabric that have dried soap in them. So all you have to do is wet them and just like that, you’ve got a foamy wash cloth. I loves these wipes because they really clean up the dirt that’s deep down in the skin and at the same time, they exfoliate.

I’m an exfoliating nut! It’s the best way to keep your skin glowing all the time. Plus, it helps get rid of dry, cracked skin, blemishes and those annoying little blackheads. I’d recommend these for anyone with oily/combination skin. I have some oily spots but the rest is dry and these work perfectly for my skin and they really clear up the T-zone.

If you have shiny skin, you need a remedy for that. As summer approaches, that shiny skin problem is going to get worse. Don’t think makeup alone will solve that problem. To bring down the shine, try the Olay Shine Control Lathering Cleanser. This product will help balance your skin’s pH and make shiny skin a thing of the past.

If your main concern is acne, then go for the Olay Acne Control Face Wash instead. It deeply cleanses the skin, treats breakouts and prevents future breakouts.

Olay is one of my favourite brands because it’s easily accessible, wallet-friendly and the products really work. Don’t be sucked in by fancy ads. More expensive products aren’t necessarily better. Head to a pharmacy near you to pick up one of these skin-saving goodies.

My Anti-Aging Skin Care Secrets Revealed

Kiehl’s has the secret to the fountain of youth. Ok, well maybe not, but I honestly believe this is as close as one can ever get to it. Skin care routines are never simple and never consist of a mere one or two products. Protecting your skin takes time and patience but it’s worth every penny and every minute spent on achieving it not to have even one more wrinkle than is absolutely necessary.

First things first, my new favourite sunscreen: Super Fluid UV Defense 50 SPF ($36). With such a high SPF, my main worry with this product was that it would be thick and greasy and create oily build-up on my face. To my surprise, this super light fluid is weightless and doesn’t have the thick, gross feel traditional SPFs sometimes have. I wear it everyday because as we know, this is the only real way to prevent premature wrinkles. According to Donna Paty, Kiehl’s National Education Manager, up to 90% of wrinkles in our lifetime can be prevented with the use of SPF every single day. That’s insane! I feel like soaking my whole body in it every day just to be safe.

While a good SPF is key, I’m a huge believer in a strong nighttime regimen. I’ve been using the Midnight Recovery Concentrate ($48) for the past couple of weeks. It’s a dry oil so even oily skins can go for it. It hydrates the skin where it’s needed and keeps it looking smooth and fresh. At night, your skin cells regenerate themselves so this is the best time to use products like this. They stimulate cellular renewal and repair the day’s damage using pure essential and botanical oils.

The Powerful Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate ($77) is an important player for women aged 35+. However Donna Paty says it’s never too early to start and none of these products are harmful on younger skin. You just wouldn’t be using the products to their maximum potential. This serum is made with vitamin C so it feels very warm when you apply it at first. It contains lots of antioxidants so it fights free radical damage and prevents and reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

For women in the 45+ range, the Rosa Arctica Rehydrating Reactivation Cream ($63) is the perfect daily moisturizer. It’s made with arctic glacier extract and Regeneration Flower extract. This is really cool actually. The Regeneration Flower is said to have survived the ice age because this flower has the ability to “sleep” or appear dead when conditions are harsh, and actually revive itself when the climate accommodates it. The restorative properties of that flower have been translated into a cream to have the same effect on the skin. It’s amazing. It’s a very thick cream so you have to be careful not to apply too much and to gently pat it into the skin rather than spread it vigorously.

Also for older women is the Double Strength Deep Wrinkle Filler ($57). This cream smells amazing and is so light. I don’t have any deep wrinkles to fill on my face yet (thank God) but I did apply it to my knuckles. That’s probably the most wrinkly area on anyone’s body. I did that so I could see the effect of the cream and instantly, the lines appeared smoother. They obviously didn’t make them disappear but if you’re on the lookout for a product that does that, you’re likely to be searching for the rest of your life…with no success. This product is one of the fastest acting I’ve ever seen.

I am a huge Kiehl’s fan so I definitely recommend these products. If you’re unsure, don’t be shy. Head to a Kiehl’s store and ask an expert there for some advice. That’s what they’re there for and they’ll be glad to help you. What works for me or someone else, may not be what’s right for you. Your skin will be part of you for the rest of your life, so take care of it before it’s too late. (I know that sounds harsh but you know what I mean!)

P.S. There is an amazing new Kiehl’s skin care line coming out in July that I am going to start using this week. I can’t wait to share the deets with you!

Have a Spa day at Home with Sephora’s New Skin Care Collection

Sephora has touched new ground yet again by launching their very own skin care line. The line is so complete that I can’t share my opinion on every single product in it in one post, but today I’ll give you a quick peak at some of my favourite staples.

I have to start with the Super Supreme Body Butter ($30). In winter especially, I moisturize my skin from head-to-toe every single day and this rich, luxurious cream has made it such a soothing experience. The jar is huge! I’ve actually never seen body butter sold in such a large container. This means your $30 is sure to go a long way. Plus, the cream leaves my skin feeling silky smooth, soft and beautiful. I really feel like I’m spoiling myself with this one.

Another can’t-live-without beauty product is the Nourishing Hand Cream ($8). This handbag essential is one no gal should do without. I think every handbag I own has a tube of hand cream in it because I’m obsessed with treating and preventing dry hands. (It’s so irritating to have dry skin!) I like this one because it’s made with nourishing ingredients that absorb quickly into the skin yet keep it hydrated for hours. No oily residue here.

The next staple product for me is the Instant Eye Makeup Remover ($6 for small bottle, $10 for larger bottle). The first rule of skin care is to always wash your makeup off before going to bed. Makeup clogs up pores while you sleep and not only creates acne, but adds to the aging process by adding excess oil to your skin. Sometimes, when I have a smoky eye or shimmering shadow, washing it off can be a mess. I like to wipe away the excess with makeup remover and then wash up. Sephora products never disappoint so there’s no way you won’t be satisfied with this one.

And finally, one of my ultimate favourites, the Double Duty Exfoliator & Mask ($22). This item is perfect for the multitasking lady who wants fab skin without devoting hours of her day to getting it. This 2-in-1 product exfoliates the skin deeply yet gently (you should be exfoliating every single day!) and acts as a mask, too. Exfoliation is important for preventing premature wrinkles and allowing your fresher, more radiant skin to shine through. The mask is great for tightening the skin and deeply hydrating it so winter’s cool temperatures won’t ravage it. So there, even the busiest of women has no excuse not to care for her skin.

Sephora’s amazing new skin care collection, which is chock full of way more goodies than I can share with you today, is sure to be the answer to your skin care woes. Check out the new products in stores or online today!

Say Goodbye to Winter Skin Problems

Just in case you need another reason to loathe the winter (like I do), let me tell you exactly how winter damages your skin during this frigid season. Extreme cold and extreme heat indoors can cause the skin to dry out excessively. The lack of adequate sebum on the surface of the skin and in the layers beneath it can lead to cracking and flaking, which are openings for bacteria. This can lead to eczema and other skin conditions.

When your skin suffers from problems like this, you have to be so careful what you use to treat it. Many products with harsh additives can cause even more irritation and redness. You may want to consider Diane Lai’s Rejuvenate ($45) and Soothe ($34) skin care products.

Rejuvenate can be used as a daily moisturizer and it’s made for highly sensitive skin. It’s even safe enough for babies so there’s no way it can cause any irritation. My boyfriend, who happens to be a pharmacist and an extremely picky man when it comes to skin care, has been using this cream for the last couple of weeks and he loves it. He told me that the light lavender scent is just right (he can’t handle smelly products) and the cream leaves his skin feeling soft, hydrated and smooth. (He’ll probably kill me for sharing this secret…)

Then there’s Soothe, which is ideal for soothing skin irritations like red patches, eczema, sunburn, insect bites, etc. Diane Lai products are all natural and suitable for adults, children and toddlers. In fact, Diane created these products herself when her own son was a newborn. She noticed he had some rashes on his cheeks and neck and there were no products out there that didn’t contain parabens, lanolin, paraffin, mineral oil, and phthalates. So she created it!

Visit Diane Lai’s website for retail info.

Get an Oil-Free Complexion for the Holidays

You know about it, we all do. That minute where you go to washroom and take a look at yourself after being at a party for a few hours and wonder what the heck happened? Unfortunately, with all the makeup, partying, eating and greeting, most people tend to get oil build-up on their face by the time the clock strikes 12. That can make your face shine and your makeup look like it’s melting off your face.

I actually have dry/combination skin and when I am wearing my SPF moisturizer and evening makeup, I sometimes get oil build-up, too. It doesn’t just happen at parties, it happens everywhere, including work. Before I discovered Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder ($35), I would start my day off with matte, flawless skin and end the day with shiny skin.

This new product is one of the best mattifying powders I have ever tried but I must warn you, it’s extremely potent stuff. The first time I applied it, I applied the way I would any other powder. Big mistake! This powder is made to dry out oil so it will severely dry your skin if you put too much or apply where you don’t need it.

I now apply it with a blush brush and only to my T-zone, which is where most oil build-up is. Just a quick sweep and no matter what the circumstances, my skin stays shine-free all day…even through to the evening. It’s incredible.

It also has oil blotting sheets so if you keep this compact with you all day, you can dry up any excess oil that sneaks up on you. Given all the holiday parties and pictures that will be taken in the next few weeks, I suggest you arm yourself against a shiny complexion with this. You can find Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder at Pharamaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations.

Happy Halloween from Bath & Body Works

Alright, I’ll admit it. I am addicted to these hand soaps from Bath & Body Works. I never thought I would be since I always figured hand soap is hand soap. But these ones smell amazing and feel even better. They moisturize your hands while they cleanse, which is really important in winter, especially if you have dry hands like I do.

Aside from that, my other obsession of the moment is Halloween. I love anything festive and when it comes to nearly any holiday, I love to decorate the house and get in the spirit. If you’re a fan of adorable decorations and the ever-popular products from Bath & Body Works, you’re going to love what they have in store for you this year.

The Anti-Bacterial Gentle Foaming Hand Soap ($5.50) is one of the most popular items and I say that partially because it’s one of my personal favourites. Aside from the amazing scent of Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin, the soap penetrates the skin for a deep feeling of clean and leaves your hands feeling silky smooth. I especially like that you can choose a pumpkin- or ghost-shaped dispenser to decorate the bathroom ($12.50 per dispenser).

The Pumpkin Candle from Slatkin & Co. ($22.50) is a three-wick candle that will quickly fill your home with the wonderful aroma of sweet pumpkin. You can also go for that adorable Haunted House Luminary (sold separately) which fits the candles inside perfectly. It’s both festive and useful.

And if you’re planning on trick-or-treating with small children, you may want to consider buying the Anti-Bacterial Glow-in-the-Dark Pocketbac Deep Cleansing Hand Gel ($2.00 or 3/$5.00). Hand sanitizer is always handy to have around when you’re going door-to-door.

Check out the products online or visit one of the new Bath & Body Works locations in Montreal and Laval.
