    The Perfect Summer Eyeshadow Palette

When summer finally gets here and we actually start getting a little colour, we’re going to want to maximize on it! To enhance a tan, I always opt for a shimmering bronze eyeshadow or something in the gold tones. Another great colour choice is something vibrant because it adds to the luminous look of a sun-kissed glow.

Estée Lauder has just released the Limited Edition Bronze Goddess Island Oasis Eyeshadow Palette ($50) and I think it has the perfect combo of spring/summer-friendly colours that are sure to enhance a glowing complexion. Every year, the Bronze Goddess collection releases the best summer makeup.

The palette is limited edition so that means you need to get a move on. Head to an Estée Lauder counter near you this weekend and look for this palette. The iridescent shades like Gold Bronze and Pink Teal are a must this season.

New Pure Color Lipstick and Nail Polish from Estée Lauder

For definition and intense pigment, Estée Lauder‘s new Pure Color Lipstick ($32) is soon to be your go-to lip colour. Available in 35 long-lasting shades, there’s definitely not a lack of choice with this new collection. Twenty-five of the shades come in satin creme and lustrous shimmer finishes and the other 10 luminous shades have a sheer and shiny finish to them. I’d be surprised if you couldn’t find at least one or two to suit your style.

My personal favourites are the satin creme matte finish lip colours and the the lustrous shimmer finishes, on the total opposite end of the spectrum. The trendy vibe of an elegant matte lip colour is one I can’t do without. But with summer on the horizon, a shimmer lip colour is a definite must, as well. To top it off, the deeply pigmented lip colours are also ultra-nourishing so you can count on lasting hydration for hours.

Aside from the intensely pigmented lipstick collection, Estée Lauder will be releasing Pure Nail Laquer ($25) in 8 bold and indulgent shades. As you can see by the image, the colours are deep and opaque. I feel in love with the Pure Red shade which perfectly encompasses the sheer beauty of red nail colour with its creme finish.

It’s the perfect red and one that suits the warmer weather up ahead, too. The colour on my nails looks brighter than ever, opaque, intense and totally on trend. The rest of the shades also come in shimmering and sparkling finishes. Bonus: The pro brush makes for a perfect application every time.

Both the Pure Colour lipstick and nail polish collections will be debuting at Estée Lauder counters across Canada in March 2011. Spring is just a few weeks away so get your wish lists ready.

Want Spectacular Lashes? Try Sumptuous Extreme Mascara by Estée Lauder

I was unfortunately not blessed with long, full lashes. I’ve tried everything from false lashes to eyelash extensions but on a more regular basis, I have to rely on extreme mascaras with mega brushes and voluminous formulas.

One of the downsides to thick brushes and formulas are clumps. Clumpy mascara practically tops my list of pet peeves. It looks terrible and feels even worse. Just recently, Estée Lauder released a new mascara called Sumptuous Extreme Mascara ($28.50). What sets it apart from some of the others I’ve tried is that is has the thick brush I need but it also has comb-like bristles to comb through the lashes and prevent nasty clumping. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I’m absolutely loving the results.

I also like that the formula is infused with vitamin B, which conditions lashes, and rosemary, which helps protect against environmental damage. And because of its lightweight, mousse-like formula, it makes my lashes feel supple rather than rigid and brittle (which can happen with dry mascara formulas).

You can pick up your own tube (available in Extreme Black, Extreme Brown, Extreme Indigo and Extreme Violet) at an Estée Lauder counter near you.

    Beauty for Breast Cancer Research

Breast Cancer Awareness Month has officially begun and it’s time for every one of us to do our part in joining the fight against this horrible disease. I’m very proud of all the beauty brands that have made the effort to help out this worthy cause by donating the proceeds of your purchases to Breast Cancer Research. Here are some of my favourite products devoted to raising funds for the cause this month.

One of my favourites this year is OPI’s Pink of Hearts Special Limited Edition Nail Lacquer ($10.95). This pearly pink polish has all the usual characteristics of an OPI polish: trendy, high quality and long-lasting. This polish also comes with an extra-wide brush so applying it evenly all over the nail is a cinch. Purchasing this bottle will help OPI donate $5,000 to Rethink Breast Cancer. You can find this awesome shade at salons that sell OPI. You can also visit their website for more retail info.

Estée Lauder is also a proud supporter of the cause this month with their Limited Edition Pink Ribbon Collection. One of my favourite sets from this collection (which also offers lip glosses and more) is the Evelyn Lauder Lip Set ($30). These three shades of lip colour were selected by Evelyn herself and I must say, great choices! The lipsticks are offered in these adorable high-shine cases that are designed to remind buyers they’ve supported a great cause every time they use it. The rich, shimmering lip colours are super hot, too. I’m a big fan of Rubellite (far left). It’s so gorgeous!

The last item isn’t exactly beauty-related but I just love it and had to share it with you. The Apollo Pink Tool Kit ($29.99), available at Canadian Tire, is a household must-have for every gal. Let’s face it: We ladies probably get more use out of tools than most of the men we know, anyway. Might as well opt for a tool kit that supports a great cause and has a feminine twist to it. The kit is 39 pieces and $1 from the sale of each one will be donated. You can also go for the 135-piece kit ($49.99) if you’re really handy. Two dollars from every one of those will be donated to Rethink Breast Cancer so you know your purchase is giving the world something much greater.

I have lots more goodies you can buy to support the cause this month so keep checking back for more details.

Estée Lauder Extravagant Gold Eyeshadow Palette

There are so many great products coming your way this fall and Estée Lauder‘s new Pure Color Extravagant collection has lots of goodies in store for you this coming October.

Among the new lip glosses, lipsticks and nail colours is this covetable eyeshadow palette. Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette in Extravagant Gold ($45) is hitting Estée Lauder counters this October and only for a limited time. The earthy tones makes this item is a hot topic for fall. Plus, the shimmering shades are perfect for the holiday season.

I’m all for matte makeup during the day this season, but at night, there’s always room for a little glitz and glam. These festive and illuminating shades are rich, luxurious and on trend. In the photo, you’ll notice the palette is made up of five earth tones that can all be blended or mixed and matched.

The sophisticated nature of the earth tone palette makes it a great basic for any gal. I think these neutral tones bring out brown, hazel and green eyes best, but in general, earth tones are universal. If you’re swooning over this palette (like I am) then you might want to keep your eyes peeled for it so you can snag your own as soon as it hits counters.

Pure Color by Estée Lauder for Fall 2010

Last week, I told you about Estée Lauder’s Pure Color Eyeshadow collection (amazing, btw). This week, the rest of the collection has come my way and it looks absolutely stunning. With all the fabulous fall 2010 makeup products coming my way, I can hardly wait for autumn to hit.

The Pure Color collection by Tom Pecheux, Estée Lauder‘s Creative Makeup Director, is a collection he calls iconic and trendy for fall/winter 2010. The collection is focused on smouldering eyes, shimmering lips and bold nails. Love, love, love!

The range of colours in the two limited edition Pure Color collections, Blue Dahlia and Surreal Violet, are so versatile and there’s something for everyone. “I like to give women choices in the way that they look. From a neutral to a smoky to a fashionable, strong look, the blue can be used with them all,” Tom says.

Blue Dahlia, pictured above, is one of my favourite new collections for fall. Indigo blue is very hot for the upcoming season (expect lots of dark shades for the season to come) and the collection has got lots of it, plus some fantastic complementary pink hues for the lips to offset the eyes.

Surreal Violet  (pictured directly above) also plays with blues and greens for the eyes but focuses on different shades of violet for the lips. From the lipsticks to the glosses, they’re all fabulous and suitable for women of all ages. What I really love about collections like this is what they allow you to do. They give women who are afraid of colour (and there are tons of them) the chance to experiment with trends without going too far out of their comfort zone. Blue is in but with this collection, you don’t have to be decked out in it from head to toe. Complementary shades are just as important to a collection as the vibrant main products are.

This two limited edition collections will hit Estée Lauder counters across Canada starting in August. Luckily, that’s only a few weeks away. Sigh, summer is going to be coming to an end but hopefully, the new products you score will make up for it. What are your fave items in the new collection? (The prices of the items are listed below):

Pure Color Five Color EyeShadow Palette $47.50
    Pure Color Gloss Stick $21.00
    Pure Color Gloss $22.50
    Pure Color EyeShadow Single $22.50
    Pure Color Nail Lacquer $25.00

Estée Lauder Presents Pure Color Eyeshadow

I received samples of Estée Lauder‘s new Pure Color Eyeshadows yesterday and I’m already gaga over them. These new shades are bringing back the one-colour eyeshadow look. I’ve gotten so used to mixing different palettes that I had forgotten how elegant one single, classy shade can look.

The campaign image you see here took my breath away. I think the blue looks fantastic and luckily, one of the samples I received for myself is Nocturnal Blue, which has a satin finish and is just so chic. The entire line consists of 48 shades in four different finishes: satin, matte, luminous and metallic. I love satin and matte for day and I think luminous and metallic are perfect for night. If you need to transition, you can always apply a matte shade in the daytime and then add luminous layer over for your evening out.

The great thing about this new product is that the colours are intense and what you see is what you get. I hate when I spot a pretty eyeshadow and I purchase only to try it on at home and realize the colour doesn’t look the way I thought it would. I’m also a fan of the mono-colour look. You can play around with one colour and make it look lighter or darker in certain areas of the eye by applying more or less or you can opt for a light, even layer on the lower lid and crease. Of course, if you’re in the mood to mix and match, you can buy more than one shade and mix it with another one.

Personally, I am hooked on Nocturnal Blue because it’s a greyish-blue and it looks very unique. It’s a really hot colour for fall 2010, too. (If you have blue eyes, you’ll really rock this colour!) Here are some of the other great colours in the new collection.

The pretty compact cases are also equipped with a generously-sized mirror for quick and easy touch-ups. I also like that the applicator brush isn’t super tiny. I can get my whole lid in a few sweeps. But my personal tip is to apply it with a professional makeup brush that has lightly packed bristles (ideally a crease brush) because it will give your eyes a smoky look, especially if you opt for one of the satin or matte finishes.

Estée Lauder‘s Pure Color Eyeshadows will start retailing at counters across Canada in August for $22.50 each. I am so excited for August! It’s jam-packed with some amazing stuff this year…as you would know if you’ve been reading the blog this week!

New Advanced Night Repair Eye from Estée Lauder

If you’re a victim of dark under-eye circles, puffiness or fine lines, you’re going to be very excited to hear about Estée Lauder’s new product launch this month. The new Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex is a cream made with the same reparative properties as Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex but is designated specifically for the eye area.

This new eye cream targets fine lines and wrinkles around the eye contour area, puffiness, dark circles, dryness and uneven skin tone. This is the first eye cream that’s been known to target all those elements at once, to my knowledge. Personally, I don’t think anyone should go without eye cream (men or women!). The eye area is very delicate so the signs of aging are more visible there than anywhere else. You want to make sure you care for your eye contour properly to prevent premature aging.

It’s so easy to treat puffiness around the eyes with a good cream and using one day and night could make such a difference in your general appearance. You don’t have to be a makeup aficionado with blush and bronzer all over your face to care about your appearance. Everyone wants to look refreshed, rejuvenated and maybe even a little younger. I can’t imagine there are too many people out there who want to walk around looking sleepy. Besides, applying this eye contour cream requires minimal effort so even those who dread a beauty routine can manage this one.

If you work and have a busy daily schedule, don’t go to sleep another night without applying an eye contour cream. I have very dark circles and luckily, no one knows that but me…and I guess now you, actually. But the point is, the right eye contour cream can be a life saver.

I’m super impressed with Estée Lauder’s new Advanced Night Repair Eye Synchronized Complex simply because it covers all the bases. It even repairs damage caused by the environment everyday. So while you sleep, the cream will work at undoing the day’s damage. Plus, the brand is known for superior quality products. If you want, yiou can pick yours up at any Estée Lauder counter in Canada or online for $62. It’s ideal for all skin types and is non-acnegenic.

I’m curious to know. How many of you use eye contour cream everyday already? Come on, don’t be shy. But be ashamed if you don’t! (Kidding!)
