As I mentioned in a previous post, celebs are rocking nude hues these days and the fall 2012 trend is one of my faves. (Of course, there are always a few stragglers, like Nicki Minaj, who seemed to have missed the memo that cotton candy pink lips are out. But rest assured, nude is in.) Read on for deets on the look and one of Dior‘s most exciting, invisible products! Yes, invisible!

Nicole by OPI New Matte Nail Polish

Nicole by OPI always surprises me with their fashion-forward nail lacquers and the latest collection to make its way to my doorstep is definitely one of my all-time faves.

Matte, matte, matte! That’s all I can say when it comes to fall trends. And Nicole by OPI has nailed it with the Matte Collection of nail lacquers ($10.49 each). Although the shades reflect the matte texture popularized on the runways this year, that’s not to say the shades are dull or lifeless. In fact, this collection is just the opposite.

I wouldn’t actually recommend sporting the colours the way I have in the photo. I only did that to show you as many of the colours as possible. As you can see, the bold colours are bursting with shimmer, even though they have a smooth, classy and matte finish. (TIP: I would skip on the top coat with these nail lacquers to keep the trend in tact.)

On my fingers (from index finger to pinky), I’m wearing Respect the World, a shimmering jade green; Stolen Kisses, a sparkling pinky-red, Virtuous Violet, a dazzling purple haze, and No Limits, a rich black bursting with sparkles. There are seven awesome shades to choose from: all sparkling, all matte and all on trend.

What do you think of the shimmering matte polishes? Is the irony a little too much for you? Or are you loving the combo?

New Pro Longwear Lipcreme from MAC

Every once in a while, an instant beauty classic is born. This is one of those times. MAC‘s iconic lipsticks complete a makeup collection whether you’re a makeup artist, makeup lover or just a woman who wears makeup. At one time or another (if not all the time), a MAC lipstick will, and should, make its way into your beauty regime.

I am a sucker for long-lasting products because I hate reapplying yet I loathe not having any makeup on at the end of the day. Pro Longwear Lipcreme ($19) is a new line of lip colours from MAC designed to counter those very problems. Plus, as the name suggests, the lipsticks are creamy and smooth. The hydrating formula makes for plump, lush lips every time.

The collection is made up of some amazing fall hues. Pictured above are the neutral to pink shades and two seemingly-vibrant-yet-pretty-subdued trendy shades. These lipcremes just glide on like lip balm. They’ll make your lips look and feel super moist and smooth. Aside from the formula, I am a huge fan of the matte approach to this new lip colour line. Fall is the perfect time to experiment with different textures, finishes and shades.

That brings us to the second half of this collection: The intense berry shades. Some of these colours (including my fave Extended Play, third from left) are perfect for achieving the 1940s-inspired vamp look. The colours are sophisticated, glamorous and everything a gal should be.

Pro Longwear Lipcreme has already made its way to MAC counters so head over anytime to check out the new colours. If strange, new colours are too much for you to handle, do yourself a favour and ask one of the expert makeup artists at the counter to test out different shades on you. You may be pleasantly surprised with how your last colour choice may look so open up and give it a try.

4 Rose Extract Makeup from Yves Rocher

Next month, Yves Rocher will be launching a new line of expert products for a perfect complexion. Made with 4 rose extracts, the products are gentle and really effective at giving skin a flawless finish. The products contain musk rose oil which is rich in fatty acids so it strengthens the skin, damask rose oil to even out skin tone and rosewater which softens and soothes the skin.

My first favourite product in the new collection is the Perfect Primer ($24). I have become a primer junkie over the last year or so and I find myself unable to go without it. When you want a perfectly flawless finish that will last all day and night, primer is a must. Perfect Primer actually smells like roses so you know the extracts are there. It helps the foundation adhere to your skin better, plus it fills in imperfections so your foundation will glide on easily and leave the skin looking smooth and radiant.

After letting the base set, I apply the Replump Liquid Foundation ($29) with a makeup sponge. (A sponge is a great way to make sure you don’t waste any product.) It’s really smooth and as the name suggests, it plumps the skin to fill in fine lines and wrinkles.  One of its key ingredients is shea butter, which is quite rare for a foundation.

Shea butter is an ultra-nourishing ingredient so it keeps the skin hydrated and smooth at all times. That means your makeup won’t dry up and flake out after a few hours. I am personally a huge fan of these products and so far, I’m very happy with them and I think you will be, too.

The line also consists of a Flawless Finish Corrector, a Radiance Corrector Pen and a Highlighter and Shimmer Powder Duo. Visit an Yves Rocher store next month to test the products out for yourself.

NEW: The Max Volume Flash Bold Curves Mascara

Rimmel London is one of those essential pharmacy brands we all turn to for our handbag must-haves. The line is accessible, affordable, trendy and this season, you won’t want to miss what they have in store for you. I received some goodies and I hardly know where to begin. For now, I’ll give you the scoop on the new Max Volume Flash Bold Curves Mascara because thicker lashes is my own personal obsession. But I still have to try out the eyeshadow and nail colour. (Deets on those items to come soon.)

The mascara has a curved, uber-thick brush. I’m normally a DiorShow fan so thick brushes are a must. To my surprise, at only $8.99, this mascara has a brush that satisfies me. The thickness makes it easy to add volume and the curved shape adds 70% more lift than straight brushes.

My personal tip: Break the first cardinal rule of mascaras when you open this one. They say never to pump your mascara applicator because it allows air into the tube which will thicken and dry up your mascara. I always do this one faux pas on the first day or two to speed thickening. Call me crazy, but mascaras work best when they’re just a little aged. If you try the mascara on the first day, you may not be impressed with the the volume, but once the formulas thickens a touch, it’s amazing. And this actually goes for any mascara actually. They all run too thin in the very beginning so never judge them after only a few uses. Give them about a week.

This mascara is hitting pharmacies near you this month. I’m positive you’ll love it. If you try it out, be sure to let me know what you think in the comments. Have any other mascara tips? Share them below!
