Is This Hello Kitty Palette Not Super Adorable?

I know, I’m a sucker for the cute and the adorable! Put it in a pretty package and I’m sold! This Limited Edition Hello Kitty earthy palette is called Memoirs of a Kitty ($46). Even the name is cute.

Inside, you’ll find my favourite springtime shades. The neutral eyeshadows are everything we saw on the runways at fashion Week. The nude trend is as trendy in the makeup as it is in clothing. I also love the sparkling brown shade that can be used as a liner to complete the natural look, or as a crease shadow for an evening-worthy gaze.

Under the shadows are two awesome powder blushes. There’s a rose blush and a peachy one. While the pinkish hue is super pretty, I’m so feeling peach bush this summer. I’ve become obsessed with it in the past two weeks, for some reason.

You can snag this cutie palette at Sephora starting in May but it will only be available for a limited time.

Aveda Gives Us a Sneak Peek into SS2011

I know we’re barely over summer 2010 and we’re just getting ready for fall, but Aveda has shared an awesome new look for next summer that I just had to show you now. I’m loving this complex braid Odile Gilbert from Aveda styled at Jason Wu’s SS2011 Fashion Week Show in NYC last week.

The sophisticated, 70s-inspired braid is going to be a hit for next summer but there’s no reason why you can’t start sporting the hot new look now. Be ahead of the trend game by scoring this look with Aveda‘s helpful tips.

To get the look, start with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ to smooth and tame flyaways. Pull the hair back into four sections around the nape of the neck and spray with Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray to give the hair a shiny, flexible finish. Wrap each section of hair in ribbon that matches your hair colour. Tie four braids and spray with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray to keep the looking from going astray.

Tie the braids together with a thick piece of fabric (like the one pictured) and pin the bottom to the top of the braids. Add some bobby pins to secure the hairstyle in place and add a touch more hairspray. It sounds a little complicated but it’s actually super easy to do on someone else. Pair up with a friend and try the look out on each other.

What do you think of the modified braid trend? Love or hate?

2010 makeup trends according to Chanel

I know, I know! Summer is the season we’re excited for right now but I also want to get a heads up on fall 2010’s trends. Chanel‘s 2010-2011 fashion show included models donning some extreme makeup. While I wouldn’t suggest recopying the exact same smudged eye makeup look for everyday, a more wearable version of Chanel’s look is on trend for 2010.

As I already mentioned last week when I showed you Lancôme’s smoky eye, the intense eye is h-o-t! Makeup trends for fall (which we can start sporting now to be ahead of the game) are all about the eyes.

Chanel‘s models were made up with Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow in Enigma, which is an all-new palette for fall. Can’t wait to try it out myself. To get this runway-ready look, cover your lower eyelid and the crease with a dark silver or nearly black shade. Save the darkest black for tracing the contour of the eyes. Smudge the dark shade around the crease to give it a more wearable touch.

Of course, with a trend as intense as this one, it’s important to maintain a balance. Since the eyes are front and centre, keep your complexion and lips neutral. Chanel models sported flawless complexions with the help of corrector and loose powder. Apply corrector or concealer directly on imperfections and finish off with a light veil of loose powder to sculpt the face and leave it with a smooth finish. To add some subtle colour, Chanel used their new blush, Joues Contraste in Pink Cloud and Rose Temptation, both of which are totally new for fall 2010.

The lips are colour-free with only a touch lip balm to keep them hydrated and smooth. The key to pulling off this look is balance. You might want to skip on eye makeup out to your temples, but the Chanel runway is definitely inspiring some of the upcoming season’s trendiest looks.

Personally, I can’t wait to get Chanel’s new fall products. I’m a huge fan. Which Chanel products are your favourites?

Of course you are! Who isn’t? I love to shop but I also like to get my money’s worth whenever possible. Scarlett Lounge is your one-stop shop for fashion and beauty deals. Here are a few I found today.

The first deal that caught my eye is a Clarins deal. With the purchase of two Clarins products at the Bay, you’ll get a free gift pack and 20-minute treatment. F-R-E-E…just rolls off the tongues, doesn’t it?

This next deal is for every single lady out there. U by Kotex is offering a free sample pack of pads and tampons. You’re going to need them so you might as well get them for free. Check out the deal on Scarlett Lounge for more info.

And if you’re in need of a new mascara, check out the Avon deal. You can get 50% off some of Avon’s best mascaras.

The beauty deals always get my attention because I’m a beauty prodiuct junkie but Scarlett Lounge is loaded with fashion deals, too. Find out where you can score the best deals this month by checking out Scarlett Lounge.

Loving Lancôme’s NY Fashion Week makeup

Lancôme‘s Artistic Director for Makeup, Aaron de Mey showed off the brand’s newest and most covetable items at fashion designer L’Wren Scott‘s New York Fashion Week show.

As you can see, Aaron gave the models intense eyes, flawless complexions and natural-looking lips. I think the smoky eye is absolutely perfect. I always love a touch of light, shimmering makeup in the inner corner of the eye. It gives the dark trend a soft look by illuminating the eye.

To get this runway-worthy makeup look, Aaron used a mix of classic Lancôme products and some fab new ones that won’t hit stores until fall 2010. (I can hardly wait!) For the flawless-looking complexion, Aaron used Teint Idole Foundation and Shu Uemura‘s Loose Powder in Colorless for a smooth finish. (FYI, Shu Uemura is opening up a counter at Holts here in Montreal later this month and I’ve been invited to the unveiling. I’ll be sure to snap lots of photos for you to see.)

For the season’s nude lips, Aaron used L’Absolu Rouge Lipstick in Rich Cashmere and topped it off with La Laque Fever Gloss in Sensation. The gloss is an all-new shade for fall and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.

For the smoky eye, Aaron used the classic Le Crayon Khôl in Black Ebony and Hypnôse Drama Mascara in Excessive Black. For the eyeshadow, he used two fall 2010 products: Ombre Magnétique in Black and Ombre Magnétique in Silver. These are definitely making my fall 2010 makeup must-have list.

Lancôme also customized a blue-grey metallic nail polish for L’Wren Scott’s models. From what I’ve seen so far, the metallic shade is going to be hot for fall 2010. No word as to whether or not Lancôme plans to bottle and sell this exact colour just yet. Stay tuned for more info. I’ll keep you posted as soon I hear anything. Fingers crossed!
