ghd Red Metallic Styler: Pretty AND It Works

I have pin straight hair yet I depend on a flat iron! Weird, I know. I usually use flat irons for curling my hair actually. And for getting crazy kinks out of my bangs. (If you have bangs, you know the trouble with them all too well!). I was lucky enough to receive the Red Metallic Styler as a gift from my pals over at ghd and I tested it out on my sisters. Read on to see how the straightener worked!

Going to Mexico? You Can Still Have Great Hair!

Cuba, 2004 – the trip I went on with my girlfriends that was supposed to be the best trip ever. After over-heating my hairdryer and realizing my flat iron was useless there for some reason, I ponytailed it – for 7 nights! I can’t even look at the photos of that trip! Luckily, if you’re headed to Mexico and you select a Palace Resort Hotel, you won’t be in this predicament. They’re installing the best hair supplies EVER. Deets after the jump.

VaporIron: The Latest Hair Styling Tool from Joico K-PAK

A flat iron is a flat iron, right? Before the VaporIron, I may have actually said yes. The latest innovation in hair styling comes from Joico, a salon-quality brand known for their breakthroughs in hair science. It’s giving me a whole new outlook on hair styling tools. (It’s one of those “Why didn’t I think of that?” items).

What sets the Joico K-PAK VaporIron apart from the rest is the that, much like an iron used for clothing, it releases steam. This makes it easier to style hair and causes less damage because the steam hydrates the hair while creating a barrier against humidity (which can destroy your whole ‘do).

To get optimal results, you just fill up the VaporIron with VaporFuel. Made with essential fatty acids and botanical oils, this product seals the cuticle and actually repairs hair from the inside out. This state-of-the-art iron is designed to provide even heat distribution and the steam it releases creates the vapor action that styles hair like no other flat iron can. Bonus: The flat iron’s steam is made from a water-soluble formula so it won’t create product build-up on your locks and it won’t threaten coloured hair.

The K-PAK ReconstRx Vapour System ($199.95) comes with the iron, a VaporFuel refill bottle and a How-To DVD to answer all your questions and teach you exactly how the technology behind this innovative products works. This amazing new iron just hit salons this month. For more retail info, visit their website: http://www.joico.com/.

    got2b Guardian Angel Hair Products

While I adore my flat iron (and my mini travel-friendly flat iron) and I can’t imagine living without a blow dryer, the damage they can cause to my hair is less than favourable. In order to protect your locks, I always strongly recommend using a thermal protector, especially if you use a flat iron. Those magical devices are extremely bad for unprotected hair.

got2b has two thermal protecting products I’ve just discovered and I totally love. If you’ve never tried got2b before, I can tell you the products are salon-quality, wallet-friendly and they smell fantastic. The aptly named Guardian Angel line is made to protect your hair from the damage your favourite heated styling tools can cause.

If you use your blow dryer religiously, I recommend the Blow Dry Lotion ($7.99). It keeps your hair protected from the heat of your dryer and gives hair a soft, silky finish. That’s an important factor in my book. Hair that feels like hay doesn’t work for me!

If you use your flat iron everyday (shame on you!) then you most definitely need to be using Flat Iron Balm ($7.99). (Side note: you should never use a flat iron daily. Aim for two to three times a week and no more.) This product is made to stand up against intense heat so it gives your locks added moisture and leaves a shiny finish. Plus, it prevents frizz by blocking out humidity, which is the reason why we need the straightener in the first place. Evil humidity!

As you can see, both products are very affordable so you don’t have to empty your bank account in order to have great hair. Before investing in pricey reparative treatments for your hair, consider preventative care with got2b’s Guardian Angel collection. It’s always better (and easier) to prevent damage than to reverse it.

My Mini Flat Iron BFF from CONAIR

I’d like to introduce you all to my BFF and the reason why my hair is always perfectly coiffed everywhere I go: The MiniPRO ½” Ceramic Straightener from CONAIR. This 6″ flat iron has saved my locks on numerous occasions.

In Montreal, we have been experiencing some unusually windy days lately. On the walk from the metro station to my office, my hair goes from fabulous to terrible in less than two minutes! The wind blows everything around and messes up my whole ‘do. My secret? I plug in my mini life-saver when I get in to the office and give my heavy bangs their oomph back.

The MiniPRO is super tiny and very lightweight but don’t be fooled by it’s compact size. This flat iron packs a powerful punch and heats up in only 30 seconds. It also comes with this adorable pouch which is heat resistant so you can actually put the flat iron in it as soon as you’re done and toss back into your handbag.

You can bring this with you when you travel so you never have to suffer from nasty airplane-hair again. Salon-quality results from a compact item that only costs $24.99? Sounds too good to be true, but it really isn’t. I refuse to endorse any products I don’t truly love. my MiniPRO has it’s own spot right next to my emergency snacks and essential hair brush in my desk drawer at work.

You can find the MiniPRO and other fabulous CONAIR products at Sears, Wal-Mart and Best Buy.
