    Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray

I’m not a big hairspray user but mostly only because it usually feels sticky and disgusting and I want to wash my hair soon after. But my sister and I are now both lovers of Moroccanoil Luminous Spray. Read on to find out why.

L’Oréal Paris Elnett Hairspray Soon To Be Unscented!

For those of you with sensitive noses or allergies, you’ll be happy to know Elnett Hairspray from L’Oréal Paris ($14.99) is going to be available in an unscented formula starting next month. For those of you who may be unfamiliar with it, this hairspray has been the go-to product for hair stylists behind-the-scenes at Fashion Weeks around the world for over 50 years! If that’s not trustworthy, I don’t know what is!

I love this spray because it really does maintain flexible hold but the original formula is a little too strong for me. The smell was one of its drawbacks. But this new formula promises the same great formula without the smell that may be difficult for some of you to get used to. And, thankfully,  it’s just in time for summer!! I recommend using this spray for keeping hairstyles in place or even just to keep your hair from getting frizzy in the humid summer heat. You can pick it up at drug stores near you starting in June.

A Few Fabulous Products for Beachy Hair…

As much as I’d love to be on a beach right now, I’m not! I love that messy, wavy hair I get after a day at the beach. It’s such a trendy look this year in fact, that celebs Like Kate Hudson and the Olsen Twins have become pros at sporting the look. (Although let it be known that I in no way approve of Kate Hudson’s weird hair jewellery below!)

If you’re looking for some fab tips on how to achieve the look, read my article for Real Style Network here. Still looking for a few affordable products to get the look yourself – without spending a ton of money?

First things first, try Schwarzkopf Professional OSiS Dust It ($23.50). This powder instantly adds texture to the hair and loads of volume. I am a huge powder fan these days, especially when I’m in need of instant volume. Just rub your hands through your hair to blend this powder in and flip your head upside down while you do it. You’ll get Kate’s to-die-for waves in no time.

If your hair is fine and doesn’t hold up too long, try Moroccanoil Luminous Hairspray ($23.80). This product is super lightweight and it gives your hair a shiny look. It also adds to the flexible, yet sturdy texture of your hair. This will make your hair look like Adriana Lima’s at a Victoria’s Secret photo shoot!

Finally, remember that messy-style waves doesn’t mean having a poorly- kept mane. Flyaways and frizz will sort of rain on your beachy hair parade so before getting to work on styling, LaCoupe Perfect Curls Frizz Control Cream ($6.99) to keep your locks under control 24/7.

You can always head to the beach and get the look the natural way…but in case you can’t sneak in a vacay soon enough, these products will definitely help you out.

No More Wild, Unruly Hair for Me!

This month, TRESemmé released a collection of Climate Protection products and my first thought was, “It’s about time!” Maybe I’m living in a cave but I haven’t come across all that many products that promise to withstand the horrible weather conditions our precious locks are subject to in Canada: heat, humidity, cold, wind, etc.

To be 100% certain of the efficacy of these products, I brought the travel-sized versions with me to Jamaica last month to face the ultimate humidity test. As you can see my photos, even in the tropical climate, my hair didn’t get frizzy, fuzzy or flat.

After a night out in the humid air, my hair is straight and frizz-free.

Better shot of my hair…outside next to the pool. It doesn’t get any more humid than that! Yet, still just as I styled it.

I used the Climate Protection Shampoo and Conditioner ($5.99 each) to start. The products are made for all hair types. I have fine hair but lots of it and I didn’t find the products to be too heavy. Yet, they did add some moisture to my locks. If you need intense hydration because of really dry hair or split ends, you’ll definitely want to continue using your normal leave-in treatment. Oily hair sufferers, no worries, these products are great for you, too.

My real favourite of the entire collection though is the Climate Protection Finishing Spray ($6.49). In general, I use very little hairspray or none because I find it can make my hair feel dirty. But this one is super lightweight and you won’t feel like you have any in there at all. It acts as a sealant that literally blocks the humidity out so your hair stays as you styled it, yet remains flexible and soft.

I also use it here in good old Montreal and it really helps me manage my crazy fly-aways! Those are particularly annoying when static acts up and I lose control of them.

The super affordable Climate Protection collection is available in pharmacies now.

Get Celeb-Worthy Hair for the Holidays

With all the holiday parties coming up, the perfect ‘do is an absolute must. Some of my favourite celebs hit the red carpet with fabulous hairstyles and often those seemingly-difficult styles can easily be recreated at home.

LaCoupe’s new Volume Flexible FIX Finishing Spray is one product that can help you achieve the same red carpet styles as your favourite celebs. I am not a huge fan of hairspray in general and even I like using this. It’s not sticky or heavy and it’s my go-to product when I’m looking for instant volume.

Love Katy Perry’s rock ‘n roll waves? (I love her hair and love her!) According to Charles Booth, the creator and founder of LaCoupe, all you need to do is blow dry your hair with a round brush, roll up your locks in large rollers, spray with Volume Flexible FIX Finishing Spray, apply heat with a hairdryer for a few minutes then gently remove the rollers. Just remember not to brush it. You can then add a final layer of spray to your hair to make sure the ultra-glam look remains in tact all night long. Easy, no?

I am also really loving Taylor Swift’s curly hair and in general, I’m loving her. She’s so talented, wholesome and just plain normal (which is hard to find in Hollywood these days). And her fabulous hair reminds me why the 1940s vamp trend is so hot. To get Taylor’s gorgeous curls, Charles suggests the same thing as the Katy Perry look except once the rollers have been removed, spray sections of hair again and wind the hair around a curling iron. Then very gently comb through to loosen the curls and spray Volume Flexible FIX Finishing Spray one last time.

Oh, I almost forgot the best part! Volume Flexible FIX Finishing Spray is only $7.99. You can find it at most major pharmacies. Have a great weekend, all!
