    Lancôme Collection des Fêtes

The Lancôme Collection des Fêtes is hitting counters this month (yes, it’s already holiday time again!) and all I have to say is wow! I am looooving the bright red lipstick and the shimmering blush. I’m thinking of a classic black LBD and some red nails and lips for NYE. What do you think of the new collection? I must say, we’ve been seeing a lot of red, but I’m just not tired of it yet. Is it cliché for the holidays? Probably. But yet…I still love!

    Holiday Beauty from YSL

With all the holiday parties coming up this season, you can’t afford not to look your best. With YSL‘s new holiday 2010 collection, you definitely won’t have that problem. Thanks to YSL‘s top quality products that are always one step ahead of the latest trends, I’m finding myself unable to make it through my day without at least a little YSL makeup.

As you can see in the photo, the all-new YSL End of Year 2010 Collection is all about shimmer. The collection, while glam and trendy is also discreet and understated. Let’s start with the blockbuster of the collection: the Limited Edition Palette Metallic Colorama ($78).This pearly face highlighter is the most coveted of the season. I like to dab it onto my cheekbones, nose and brow bones. It adds an instant runway-ready finish to any look and it can be substituted as blush, eyeshadow and more.
In the above photo, you’ll also notice a few other holiday gems. Rouge Pure Shine Lipstick in Metallic Pink ($35) is the ultimate holiday lipstick. While it has a shimmering finish fit for the season, it’s also a very classic colour that won’t take you too far out of your comfort zone. It’s a great daytime colour, plus it’s creamy, hydrating and feels comfortable on the lips. For fancy evenings, turn to Golden Gloss ($34) in one of four shimmering shades. Its rich texture is sure to not only last for hours, but keep lips plump, hydrated and smooth.
Touche D’Or Face Highlighter ($46) is different from the Palette Metallic Colorama because it really is meant only to highlight key areas. Sweep the super soft brush over your eyeshadow, on the brow bone or in the inner corner of the eye for an illuminating look that’s sure to make you look fresh and well-groomed at all times.
For the mascara junkie, I must encourage you to try Mascara Volume Effet Faux Cils ($36). I received my sample in a dark plum shade and while the colour turned me off at first, I quickly realized the beauty experts at YSL knew what they were talking about when they introduced this. The colour doesn’t really show, so don’t fret. However, the purple leaves lashes with a more natural, less intense finish than black while still maintaining the extra thick, plush look you want. I’m hooked! Black mascara who?

And finally, the YSL La Laque Nail Colour ($24 each). Available in three ultra-trendy shades (Gold, White Gold, Pink Gold) they are bursting with colour and they totally represent the season. If you’re looking for that picture perfect makeup look for the holidays, you can’t go wrong with the new YSL collection, available Holt Renfrew.

Get an Oil-Free Complexion for the Holidays

You know about it, we all do. That minute where you go to washroom and take a look at yourself after being at a party for a few hours and wonder what the heck happened? Unfortunately, with all the makeup, partying, eating and greeting, most people tend to get oil build-up on their face by the time the clock strikes 12. That can make your face shine and your makeup look like it’s melting off your face.

I actually have dry/combination skin and when I am wearing my SPF moisturizer and evening makeup, I sometimes get oil build-up, too. It doesn’t just happen at parties, it happens everywhere, including work. Before I discovered Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder ($35), I would start my day off with matte, flawless skin and end the day with shiny skin.

This new product is one of the best mattifying powders I have ever tried but I must warn you, it’s extremely potent stuff. The first time I applied it, I applied the way I would any other powder. Big mistake! This powder is made to dry out oil so it will severely dry your skin if you put too much or apply where you don’t need it.

I now apply it with a blush brush and only to my T-zone, which is where most oil build-up is. Just a quick sweep and no matter what the circumstances, my skin stays shine-free all day…even through to the evening. It’s incredible.

It also has oil blotting sheets so if you keep this compact with you all day, you can dry up any excess oil that sneaks up on you. Given all the holiday parties and pictures that will be taken in the next few weeks, I suggest you arm yourself against a shiny complexion with this. You can find Lise Watier’s new Mineral Compact Powder at Pharamaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart locations.
