The Best and Worst Celebrity Beauty Looks of 2012

The beginning of a new year has come and hopefully, it will be a great one for all of you. As usual, when ringing in a new year, it’s customary to look back on the previous one and nit-pick at all the horrible styles you hope died along with that year. And of course, we definitely take a look at a few looks we hope will remain. Read on to find out which celebrity looks I hope find a place in 2013 and which looks I pray are dead and buried in 2012!

    Jessica Biel’s Gorgeous Revlon Shoot

My awesome fashion-blogging pal, Stephanie, sent me a link to these behind-the-scenes photos of Jessica Biel‘s new Revlon shoot on and I just love them. I think this is the best she’s ever looked. Justin Timberlake, me thinks you made a bad move letting this one go!

    Celebrities Without Makeup

It may be disappointing to some but there are tons of celebs out there who actually look pretty much just like the rest of us. There are definitely some celebs who shouldn’t be caught dead without their faces on, but here are a few surprisingly still good looking stars even without pro makeup.

Jessica Biel: Is it just me or does this woman actually still look gorgeous? Yes, makeup enhances and evens skin tone and she definitely looks better on the red carpet than here, but she doesn’t look terrible. Makes me hate her a little bit.

Kim Kardashian: I have recently become a Kardashian Reality TV addict. I find myself watching every episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians, Kourtney & Khloe Take Miami and Kourtney & Kim Take New York on an almost daily basis. (It’s insane, I know.) I love to see Kim’s great makeup on the show and her fabulous outfits. When the cameras are off and she’s just walking the streets of LA without the help of a makeup artist, she looks a little more like this. I can’t say she looks awful. When I saw this photo, it actually made me feel better. I’m not the only one who has a few flaws on my face. And flaws don’t necessarily mean she looks bad. Less glam, yes, but not ugly. I think she still looks purty. Stars are people, too and they have the same issues we do. If they can walk the streets looking “normal” so can we.

Cameron Diaz: I am a huge Cameron Diaz fan. I think she’s a fantastic actress. However, without makeup, she doesn’t look her best. Then again, most of us don’t. I’m actually happy that she looks normal because it shows everyone that even Hollywood’s most beautiful people are just people. It also reminds me that makeup is a life-saver so naturally, that makes my blog an essential tool for women everywhere ;-)

    Celebrity Trend: Ombré Hair

Ombré hair came out last year but no one was really sure whether or not it would catch on. This spring, we know for sure: ombré hair is in. Looking at celebs like Jessica Biel (one of my favourite examples of the hair trend), it’s easy to see why it’s set to be on our radars for the next little while. Not only is it a more natural look, but it’s super easy to maintain. Who knew letting your roots grow out could be such a fabulous thing?

Nikki Braithwaite, senior colorist and owner of Salon Escape in Toronto says the two-tone look is fashionable and easy to pull off. “Any colour will work and most lengths, too,” she says.

Lily Aldridge, Rachel Bilson and Whitney Port are also great examples of how to rock ombré hair. They manage to pull off that tousled look that seems effortlessly chic. Lighter ends are definitely hot for the summer season (which I am desperately waiting for, by the way). The key is to make sure you keep your ends hydrated and smooth to prevent it from looking like it’s just poorly maintained. I recommend leave-in conditioners and hair masks once a week to keep your locks soft, smooth and hydrated.

“For the younger, fashion-forward generation, this trend is here to stay,” Nikki says. Will you be trying out this look for yourself this spring?
