I’m all about extra plush lashes so if you’re not willing to dish out the dough for eyelash extensions, read on for my budget-friendly solution to dull, limp lashes.
In case you haven’t noticed, ultra-lush lashes are a big trend for summer, spotted on celebrities like Kim Kardashian, Katy Perry and Rihanna. To achieve the look, get your hands on the latest mascara from Lancôme.
It’s not coming out until mid-August, but Hypnôse Doll Lashes ($31) is worth waiting for. I’ve been wearing it all week and I’m loving it so far.
We already knew Hypnôse was great but the new Doll Lashes version is even more lengthening. It really separates the lashes and coats them with a thick, black, nylon-effect finish. Think of your favourite dolls as a kid. They always had fabulous lashes and with Doll Eyes, you can, too.Tags: August 2011., Doll Lashes, eyelashes, Hypnôse, Kim Kardashian., Lancôme, lashes, mascara, new, shopping
I was unfortunately not blessed with long, full lashes. I’ve tried everything from false lashes to eyelash extensions but on a more regular basis, I have to rely on extreme mascaras with mega brushes and voluminous formulas.
One of the downsides to thick brushes and formulas are clumps. Clumpy mascara practically tops my list of pet peeves. It looks terrible and feels even worse. Just recently, Estée Lauder released a new mascara called Sumptuous Extreme Mascara ($28.50). What sets it apart from some of the others I’ve tried is that is has the thick brush I need but it also has comb-like bristles to comb through the lashes and prevent nasty clumping. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now and I’m absolutely loving the results.
I also like that the formula is infused with vitamin B, which conditions lashes, and rosemary, which helps protect against environmental damage. And because of its lightweight, mousse-like formula, it makes my lashes feel supple rather than rigid and brittle (which can happen with dry mascara formulas).
You can pick up your own tube (available in Extreme Black, Extreme Brown, Extreme Indigo and Extreme Violet) at an Estée Lauder counter near you.Tags: Estée Lauder, eyelash extensions, false lashes, lashes, mascara, new, online shopping, shopping, spring 2011., Sumptuous Extreme Mascara, volume
I first discovered heated eyelash curlers a couple of years ago and was sadly disappointed when I spent my money on several of them and realized they didn’t work at all. So back to my manual eyelash curler I went.
But I recently received the Mini Heated Eyelash Curler ($16 CDN) from Sephora and gave it a chance, only because I love Sephora brand products so much and I was not disappointed. Once you remove the plastic from the battery, just flip the on switch and wait 60 seconds for it to heat up. To get the best results, apply your mascara first and then run the heated eyelash curler over your lashes.
This is great for two reasons. It curls the eyelashes easier and it also melts away the tiny globs that get stuck between lashes. Btw, don’t be scared of the word “melt”. I assure you, there is no possible way you can burn off your lashes with this little gadget.
My personal tip: I like to carry this little gem in my makeup bag everyday. By the end of the day, when my lashes start to fall flat, I pass the heated curler through my lashes to reshape them again and keep them looking fab for a few more hours.
