I stumbled upon this photo that Essie Canada posted on their Facebook fan page this morning. It took me all of two second to decide I kinda like this look. I think it’s imperative that you stay within the same colour family to rock this trend and Essie pointed out the perfect shades to get Lauren’s blue nail look. I wouldn’t have gone so light on the index finger — it looks a little off, but the idea is awesome. What do you think? Is this trend a hit or miss?
No doubt about it–braids are hot for spring/summer 2010. I prefer Lauren’s take on the braid as opposed to braiding your entire mane. (That’s a little too far over on the 80s spectrum for my taste.) At her book signing this past weekend, Lauren sported a chic and understated side-braid. Loves it! Plus, it’s a totally easy look to achieve.
Stars like Blake Lively, Leighton Meester, Nicole Richie and Rachel Bilson have all been known to rock this hairstyle. What I really like about this hippie chic look is that it’s subtle and casual yet stylish at the same time.
I particularly like how Lauren’s makeup complements the hair. The last thing you want is loads of makeup combined with a hairdo that has way too much going on. It’s much more elegant classy when you opt for a single side braid and understated makeup instead.
My personal tips: Braid one section of hair on one side of your head only and pin it to the rest of your hair with a bobby pin. (Tuck the bobby pin under the rest of your hair so it doesn’t show.) As for makeup, go easy on the eyes and opt for a natural complexion.
