The Golden Globes were over a week ago, but I’m still lusting over Girls star, Allison Williams’ glowing complexion. So I had to give my go-to Sephora gal a call to find out how to recreate this look. Not to my surprise, Naila Karkour, Sephora Colour Consultant, was just as excited about this beauty look as I was.
“The classic smoky eye and nude lip – she really couldn’t go wrong with that,” Karkour says. Read on for this beauty pro’s step-by-step guide to recreating this red carpet-ready beauty look.Tags: Allison Williams, awards, awards show, beauty, beauty tips, celebrity, celebrity look, complexion, cosmetics, eyeshadow, Girls HBO, Golden Globes, MAKE UP FOR EVER, makeup, makeup tips, primer, Sephora, Urban Decay

I received a copy of an e-book called The Makeup Mandate from an Australian makeup artist named Cassadra Rae Ferguson. If I had to describe the book in a couple of words, I’d call it the Makeup Bible. From skin types, to makeup tools, to application techniques, this e-book has it all.
This book contains all the information you’d get in a makeup training class. I learned a few great tricks myself. If you want to learn how to apply makeup like a professional, even if you consider yourself to be all thumbs when it comes to makeup, I truly believe this book can help you out. Now the book isn’t magical so whatever techniques you learn will need to practiced before they can be perfected but the guidelines are easy enough to follow. It’s a clear and concise summary of all the tips and tricks makeup artists use and swear by.
I really like Cassandra’s in-depth explanations of different skin types and tones and her instructions on how to achieve different looks with foundations and bases. There are even photos of different face, eyebrow and lip shapes so you can easily identify yours, and then use the techniques designed to flatter them. Figuring out how to adapt different trends to your specific needs is often the most difficult part of makeup application.
This e-book will help you add structure, depth and definition to your face while highlighting your best assets and concealing your less than favourable ones. Whether you already apply makeup regularly or are just starting out, you’ll find the answer to just about any question one could have in here.
The e-book is extremely detailed which means it can be alot to digest all at once but it literally covers every aspect of makeup application. The book retails online for $14.95AU (which translates into roughly the same price in Canadian dollars) and is available for purchase on her website and blog.
