    My Top 3 Fall Moisturizers

I think we can all agree the blistering cold weather and jacked up heating systems result in extra dry skin all winter long. Dry skin is irritating, yes. But there’s more. Dried out skin is ages faster than hydrated skin. Assuming you don’t want to look older than you are and assuming you want fresh, soft and radiant skin, here are the top 3 moisturizers I recommend to help save your skin from fall and winter.

Unlike most people, I have several products in rotation. Whether it’s makeup or skin care items, I always alternate between my favourites. Right now, I am addicted to three, inclluding Lancôme’s Hydra Zen Neurocalm Extreme Soothing Moisturizing Gel-Cream ($73.50). This cream is like a refreshing drink of water for your face. I have dry/combination skin and it starts flaking out when the seasons change. This can be both irritating and unsightly. I recommend testing this product out on a patch of dry skin and waiting about five minutes to see how your skin absorbs it. This will help you figure out exactly how much you need. But a little really does go a long way. It may be a pricey cream, but it’s well worth it.

Another cream I was surprisingly impressed by is Garnier’s Moisture Rescue Gel-Cream ($10.99). Never underestimate an affordable product. Garnier is a fabulous line but this moisturizer is one of my fave Garnier products of all time. It absorbs almost instantly and my skin feels soft and smooth. It keeps my skin hydrated all day long and after prolonged use, the condition of my skin actually improved. Not bad for around ten bucks! You can also opt for the SPF 15 version of Moisture Rescue ($10.99) and the Foaming Cleanser ($7.99) which I am currently infatuated with.

The next moisturizer on my list came out last year but it’s already a classic in my book. Bioderma Hydrabio ($34) is a hydrating lotion that penetrates deep below the surface of the skin without leaving a greasy film behind. Hydrabio is a French brand based out of Lyon and the products are of superior quality. I like that it comes in two different formulas: Light for dry skin and Rich for excessively dry and irritated skin. I actually shared some of this with my fiancé and he loved it. He hates smells, irritating textures and just about everything girl’s products are made of. If it passes his test, it’ll pass anyone’s. You can find this product along with the accompanying Serum ($43) at Pharmaprix locations.

    Principessa Plumping Lip Glosses

Plumping glosses can sometimes turn me off because generally, they sting. The burning sensation is the circulation in your lips flowing about, which will cause your lips to swell a little bit. The look? Amazing. The feeling? Not so hot.
That’s why I’m obsessed with these new lip glosses from Principessa. They are plumping glosses but they seem to have skipped right over the uncomfortable step. They are very gentle and they only subtly enhance your lips. I didn’t actually know this when I started wearing them. After a few days, I just thought my lips were looking unusually awesome and that I must just have never noticed before. After some research, I discovered the plumping effect of the glosses.

The Principessa Pleasantly Paffuto Lip Glosses are made with Shea Butter and Vitamin E so they keep your lips moist all day long and moisture is the key to enhancing lips without irritating them. The glosses act as both a gloss and a balm which sort of separates them from your average shiny lip gloss.

My fave shade is Pinkini (second from left), but all four of them are fabulous. They’re extra glossy, sheer, natural-looking and non-sticky. A sticky gloss can really ruin your day, especially if that day happens to be a windy one!

The glosses retail for $16 each on Principessabeauty.com.

Don’t forget to take the poll on the right-hand side of the screen. What do you normally think of lip plumpers?

Loves: Lise Watier’s Shockingly Pink Lips

This summer, vibrant makeup is on trend and Lise Watier has got some great lip colours to help you achieve the look. I never thought fuchsia would be a colour I wore on my lips but Lise Watier’s new Rouge Plumpissimo has developed the perfect shade.

Rouge Plumpissimo is a hydrating, plumping lip colour and I swear, it doesn’t sting (as some plumping lip colours can). The colour is matte, intense and smooth. My fave part about the Fuchsia lip colour is that it doesn’t leak. Sometimes, an intense lip colour can spill into the crack of your lips or around the edges of your lips, but this one actually stays put.

I wore the lip colour out to a party this weekend and I didn’t even have to reapply it. As you can see in my photo below, the colour is intense but not overpowering. I also didn’t wear any lip liner. I didn’t have to. Plus, the colour didn’t dry out all night. I hate when lipsticks dry out and leave a funky ring around the insides of your lips. That’s the worst!

Rouge Plumpissimo retails for $20 at comes in 10 different shades. There’s also another bright pink product from Lise Watier that I love and this one works better for daytime. If you’re looking for a pink hue without opting for full-on lipstick colour, then the Lip Kiss Gloss Crayon ($18) in Passion Fuchsia is for you. It looks like a lip pencil, but it’s actually a gloss. Just trace all over your lips for a non-sticky, shiny finish.

This product also lasts for hours and doesn’t dry out. I like to think of these two new Lise Watier products as kiss-friendly, long-lasting and ultra-hydrating. Try them for yourself and see. You won’t be disappointed. If brights are not your thing, you can choose from a variety of different shades, but I encourage you to try a bright hue. Get out of your comfort zone because you just might like it.
