Argan 6 Oil from REDKEN – Just WOW!

On Tuesday night, I went to Enrico Coiffeurs Stylistes (2310 Ontario E., Montreal) to try out some new products from REDKEN. To give you some background info on this pic (that’s me and Enrico below), the products I was there to try were hydrating products for damaged hair. For a fine-haired gal like me, this usually translates into flat, lifeless hair, but as you can see, my ‘do has some texture and body! (Yes, that’s body for me!) Bota Bota: Old Montreal’s Hidden Spa

If you live in Montreal or have visited our fine city before, you may have enjoyed a walk along the pier on De La Commune Street in Old Montreal, one of my favourite spots in the city. Looking at the pier, you’ll see lots of boats but you may not have noticed that one of those boats is actually a spa – and a fabulous one at that!

Last week, I had a wonderfully luxurious massage at Spa Bota Bota and I just had to share the experience with you. First, I stored all my things in their high security, remote access lockers and put on my robe. You can enjoy the baths outside no matter the weather and prep for your ultra-relaxing treatment. Did I mention it’s on a boat?! That actually makes it much cooler for me

I had a 60-minute Swedish massage and I was so sad when it was over. My massage therapist also focused on my problem areas, as I requested and used this amazing cream that deeply penetrated my skin and relieved the soreness in my shoulders.

After my luxurious massage, I enjoyed a delicious cup of tea in the relaxation room and enjoyed the beauty of the eater right outside the window. It was so serene and amazing. If you’re looking for a great spa to relax and spoil yourself, this is it. Planning a trip to Montreal? Don’t miss Bota Bota! Check out their video below if you’d like to get more info on the spa or visit them online.

New Favourite: Miss June Hair Brushes

This is the time of year when I really start to have difficulty with hair brushes. My hair is thin so it’s overcharged with static when I brush or blow dry it. This has proven to be the single most annoying thing I have to deal with in winter besides the actual weather.

I recently tried a new round brush from Miss June, a line of French fashion and beauty products sold in a boutique right here in Montreal (2030-B Crescent). I gave this brush the ultimate static test by using it during the time of year when static usually starts to get to me. I also made it a point to brush it through my locks repeatedly to actually try and create static.

So far, I’ve been nothing short of impressed with my Miss June hair brush. The superior quality of these brushes, which are guaranteed for life, don’t make hair static and actually leave it with a shiny, silky finish. If you use a round brush, you may want to consider giving this local brand a whirl.

The Olivia brush (pictured) is only $17.90 and the results it yields are well worth it. You can also buy Miss June online, which makes life even simpler. Gotta love that! For the time being, Miss June’s website is only available in French. If French is not your strong point, Google Translate can help you out. The site is pretty easy to navigate so you shouldn’t have a problem with it.

    Have a great weekend, beauties!

The Holistic 24 Karat Gold Facial

When this info made its way to my inbox, it immediately grabbed my attention. You didn’t misread that title. Today’s blog post is about a luxurious facial offered only at the Dr. Hauschka Spa in Montreal and yes, that’s 24K gold.

Using cosmetic-grade gold leaves, Enaam Takla, co-owner of the Dr.Hauschka Spa in Montreal, has developed the Holistic 24 Karat Gold Facial. (This procedure brings new meaning to the word luxury.) It was developed to help diminish skin imperfections, rejuvenate the skin and minimize blemishes, wrinkles and fine lines. So the treatment really does target a little bit of everything.

Gold being good for the complexion may seem like news to you but it’s actually an age-old secret. Cleopatra was said to sleep with a gold mask every night and, as we all know, her glowing complexion and flawless face is one that has attracted attention from all over the world throughout the centuries.

The two-hour treatment offered at the Dr. Hauschka Spa in Montreal ($270 per treatment) stimulates the lymphatic system which makes the skin receptive to the benefits of the gold leaves which are spread and pressed onto the skin’s surface. The gold deeply penetrates the skin to release negative ions and get rid of free radicals (the enemy!).  The skin looks and feels more radiant after this holistic treatment.

What do you think? Would you be willing to try out this exotic facial treatment?

One great advantage this salon has over lots of others is that they’re open on Mondays, too. Plus, they are now offering Kérastase treatments. If you know your hair products, then you know Kérastase is among the very best product lines and treatments out there.

Shu Uemura has finally hit Montreal

As I mentioned, I went to the opening of the Shu Uemura counter at Holt Renfrew in Montreal last week. The upscale makeup collection is nothing short of impressive. The Tokyo Lash Bar is my favourite part about the beauty counter. When you purchase a pair of flase lashes, a makeup artist will apply them for free so you can head out for the evening with them. Plus, they’re reusable.

I walked away with a goodie bag that contained some of Shu Uemura‘s best products and I just love them. My first fave is the red Matte Cream Lipstick. I’m really into red lips this year but it’s really hard to find a shade that suits my skin tone. I believe there’s a red for everyone and mine is from Shu Uemura. It’s a creamy lipstick and the shade isn’t as intense as it looks. It lightly stains my lips with red for a totally sexy pout.

I also like the High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil. I have dry/combination skin so I’m not sure how it would work for extra dry or oily skins, but I really like this product. It’s an oil-based cleaner that hydrates the skin without leaving it with a greasy film. It really gives a deep feeling of clean.

If you’re planning on heading downtown to check out the counter, pick yourself up the eylash curler while you’re there. One word: AMAZING!
