Who Rocks Nail Art Better? Me or Beyoncé?

While nail art has been kind of freaking me out ever since celebrities started going crazy with it, I am finally starting to like some ways of sporting this trend. As you can see my Beyoncé‘s nails (yup, that actually happened!), you can see why I have always been a little apprehensive about getting on board. Read on to find out which nail art is starting to catch my eye and and check out my own nail art mani, too!

Manucure Couture: YSL’s Fall 2010 Nail Polish Trend

In my last YSL blog post, I shared my favourite eyeshadow palette from the brand with you and, as promised, here are my thoughts on the new fall nail colours. As you can see by the photo, the hues by YSL for fall 2010 are intense, bold and all-around spectacular.

The always on trend brand is offering nail polish duos this season. I have Duo No 3 Belle de Nuit ($32) which contains a satiny dark purple and a metallic gold lacquer. The colours are sold in sets with the idea of pairing them together for a trendy take on a traditional French manicure. Instead of a clear base with white tips, you can opt for a purple base with gold tips or vice versa. Actually, you can mix and match almost any colour in the collection this season.

The applicator brushes are cut in a curved shape to make applying a French tip a cinch for even unsteady hands. And the colours are just so rich and gorgeous. As you can see in my pics below, the colours also look great individually. I received loads of compliments when I had these shades on my fingernails, including from absolute strangers.

These awesome new nail lacquers, along with the rest of the YSL Fall beauty collection, will be making their way to YSL counters at Holt Renfrew stores across Canada in September 2010. The cooler weather is nothing to look forward to but don’t some of these awesome new goodies make it a little bit easier to deal with?

    Revlon’s scented summer nail polish

This summer, keep an eye out for Revlon‘s limited edition scented nail polishes. Yes, scented! The polishes will give your nails a shiny finish and a sweet summer aroma. Regular nail polish just seems a little boring to me now.

The polishes are available in 8 different shades and I am a particularly big fan of the bright hues which I think are ideal for the warmer season. I like Orange Pop (first row, first from left) and Grape Icy (first row, second from left.) The colours are on trend for summer and look great on.

Revlon‘s scented nail polishes make painting your nails a little more fun. They won’t smell for days and the aroma is very subtle, but the polish will give your fingernails a little something extra plus the same chip-resistant finish Revlon nail enamel is known for. Treat your nails to a sweet scent and fab colour this summer.

    It’s liquid genius!

I love painting my toe nails in the summer and I love changing colour often. But waiting for my nails to dry? That’s the not-so-fun part. I’d change colour way more often if I could do it without losing an hour of my day waiting for my nails to dry. You become an invalid when your toe nails or fingernails are wet. You can’t walk around, eat, go to the bathroom. It’s awful!

Anyhoo, I recently discovered Liquid Freeze Quick Dry Spray from Avon. It makes it painting my nails a quick and simple task. My sister swears by it and can’t do her nails without it. With this quick dry spray, your nails are instantly dry. It’s the best quick dry product I’ve ever tried.

If you apply several coats (one coat of base, two coats of colour and one coat of top coat) the spray should dry the top layer instantly, but it takes about 5 minutes for the nail polish to dry all the way through (just to be safe). You can do anything after that and your polish won’t dent or smudge. Just spritz each fingernail once and in 5 minutes, you’re good to go. So if you’re in a hurry or just super impatient (like me), you’ll love Liquid Freeze.

It’s one of the most impressive items I’ve come across and it makes colouring my toesies a cinch. Plus, it’s only $6.99.
