A New Neutral Palette from MAC Coming in July! You Like?

I live for MAC’s limited edition collections. I have a love-hate relationship with them, though. I love that I fall head-over-heels for some of their products but I hate when they get cleared off the shelves. Luckily, they keep coming up with one amazing collection after another to keep me on my toes.

Launching July 7 is the new limited edition Semi Precious collection. I am so addicted to this new collection. It’s the perfect blend of neutrals and colour for the summer. The collection includes their amazing Cremesheen Glass (which I am in love with), creamy lipsticks, awesome eyeshadows and some ultra-flattering blush.

At the moment, I can’t stop wearing Subtropic Cremesheen Glass ($22). It’s a super long-lasting neutral gloss that feels ultra luxurious. It also doesn’t feel like shellac so don’t shy away from this gem for the sticky-factor.

Mineralize Blush ($27.50) is one of MAC’s finest creations. No matter what colour they release, I am always pleased. The colour is ultra-pigmented and long-lasting. I am currently really loving Feeling Flush. It has the cute pinky hue I like for summer but it also combines a deep blue and soft brown shade. When mixed together, they create the perfect definition and depth in all the right places. I’m really over one-tone blush now!

The new collection launches July 7 and is expected to stay on shelves only till August. So get ready for it and head to a MAC store near you next month for first pick of these fab goodies.

Repair Split Ends with NEXXUS Pro-Mend Hair Products

This month, NEXXUS is releasing their all-new Pro-Mend collection. Believe it or not, this collection aims to reconnect already split ends while preventing future split ends. Sound unbelievable? Well believe it! They’re definitely not miracle products or something far-fetched, but they actually do help repair split ends. Positive and negatively charged ions work together to mend split ends. The whole scientific process can be a little complex, but all you really need to know is that the products do work.

Using the shampoo and conditioner regularly (which is what I’ve been doing for the last two months) will give your hair a softer feel and reduce the appearance of split ends. Those nasty white tips really mess up a hairstyle. Made with coconut oil, amino acids and keratin, Pro-Mend Shampoo ($9.99) and Pro-Mend Conditioner ($14.99) intensely nourish and protect hair while repairing damage.

After cleansing,  don’t skimp on the Split-End Binding Targeted Leave-In Creme ($9.99). Leave-ins should really be a no-brainer. They deeply penetrate the hair and hydrate. This particular one also repairs split end damage and helps keep tips whole.

If you have a big split end problem and use heated styling tools too much, you definitely want to get acquainted with Split-End Binding Overnight Treatment Creme ($14.99). Unlike the leave-in treatment, this one should be applied to dry hair. It may feel like you’re dirtying your hair at first but the product actually dries up very quickly because the hair absorbs it. Just apply it to your ends every night and go to sleep. The next morning your hair will look and feel healthy, smooth and split-end free.

And last but not last, this collection includes Heat Protector Styling Spray ($12.99). While the Pro-Mend collection repairs damage, it’s always easier to prevent damage than it is to repair it. Remember that if you have long hair, the ends of your hair have been with you for years, facing harsh winters, humid temperatures and other environmental damage. It has been dealing with your heated styling tools for too long. If you use a flat iron, you absolutely need a thermal protector like this.

The all-new Pro-Mend collection from NEXXUS, my newest fave products, are hitting pharmacies today! Who says fabulous hair has to cost a fortune?

Pretty in Prints by Milly for Clinique

I have an amazing announcement today, which my fashion-forward readers are going to love. Renowned designer Michelle Smith, the creator behind the Milly label, has teamed up with Clinique to make one of spring 2011’s prettiest makeup collections. With a groovy, 60s-inspired feel and the beauty of sweet pink, Pretty in Prints will have you feeling more feminine and flirty than ever.

My first tip is to get your hands on the Limited Edition Long Last Glosswear SPF 15 ($18) in Milly Pink. While I currently have about 30 glosses in rotation (if not more) I never ever go without a Long Last Glosswear from Clinique in my collection. It’s my go-to gloss when I need long-lasting shine and constant hydration.

For a lady who wants an elegant and sophisticated, yet trendy and feminine look, definitely go for the Limited Edition Pretty In Prints Compact ($43). It has the perfect blend of pink and neutral eyeshadows plus a blush that’s just the right amount of pink.

Finish off the look with some High Impact Mascara ($18) and you’ll be ready to go. The best part? Michelle even designed this adorable pouch to keep your Pretty in Prints products, making them way easier to bring along with you when you’re on-the-go. “The pouch for the Pretty in Prints makeup bag is designed in a signature print from my collection. I travel to Europe several times a year to research the archives of many of the esteemed fabric houses,” says Michelle.

This adorable collection hits Clinique counters this month so keep your eyes peeled for it.

Oooh I Love: The New Smashbox In Bloom Collection

The new In Bloom Collection by Smashbox is going to top the must-have lists of beauty addicts everywhere this spring. This soft, wearable and supremely feminine collection is perfect for the lady who wants a pretty and sophisticated summertime look. It plays on the lavender trend for 2011 and combines it with the classic neutrals no gal should go without. The emphasis with this collection is on sultry eyes and an illuminated, radiant appearance.

In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette & Brush ($55) is a steal since it contains $207 worth of goodies. The shades inside are ballet pink, lavender grey, golden pink, warm taupe, bone, soft violet, marine blue, shimmering copper, moss and nude. With both shimmering and matte shades, the possibilities are endless.

To complement your sultry gaze, considering opting for Soft Focus Powder Eye Liner ($25). Powder liner is a simple way to get that seductive look you crave. In fact, powder liner has been my personal insider secret for years. I have always applied powder to my lash line with an angled brush rather than liquid or a pencil liner and it’s never failed me. Now that Smashbox offers it in a bottle with its own brush, even easier!

In case you haven’t already heard, cream blush is the latest and most incredible fad to hit the beauty industry. The creamy texture of blush makes for a flawless, photo finish with a second skin effect. It looks and feels weightless and natural and the result is more intense and longer-lasting than ordinary pressed powders. If you’re in need of a cream blush, you may want to check out Cream Cheek Duo in Blushing Peony ($30).

One of my favourite products in this collection is the Artificial Light Luminizing Powder ($23). In a shimmering soft nude shade, this powder will illuminate your look in more ways than one. My favourite way to use powder like this is to highlight the cheekbones, brow bones and inner corners of the eyes. Just a dab on each of those crucial zones can brighten your entire face and give you that extra wow factor.

The all-new In Bloom Collection was just released a few days ago and is available at select Pharmaprix/Shopper’s Drug Mart stores, Murale and Sephora.

Spring 2011: The Lavender Makeup Trend

I know it’s still the dead of winter and spring seems so far off but I swear that thinking about spring actually makes me feel warmer! As I showed you last week, Lancôme is releasing a spring-infused makeup collection focusing on one of the hottest shades predicted for spring 2011: lavender.

The ultimate feminine, 70’s-inspired colour is resurfacing this year in Lancôme’s Ultra-Lavande Collection by Aaron De Mey and it’s taking pastels to a whole new level. I am not a huge pastel fan to be honest, but lavender like this works for me.

The Butterflies Fever Blush ($48) is one of my favourites. It’s the perfect way to throw this trendy shade into the mix without overdoing it. Paired with a subtle pink and various shades of lavender, this blush is great for highlighting cheekbones and giving the contour of the face just a subtle hint of this vibrant trend. It’s so pretty.

Next on my list of faves from Lancôme’s 70’s-inspired Ultra-Lavande Collection is Le Vernis ($16) is available in Lavender and Disco Silver, both on trend for the warmer season. The lavender lacquer is an opaque one and it screams summer! If you want to embrace the trend but aren’t comfortable with wearing purple makeup, this is the perfect alternative. I absolutely love this shade and can’t wait till we get some warm weather to match it.

For the gloss gal (that’s me), you’ll absolutely love Color Fever Natural Origin Gloss ($31). It’s a sweet, slightly metallic lip colour with a high-shine finish. It’s so gorgeous. Those these are my faves and the items I find to be most versatile, the collection also includes shimmering eyeshadows, eyeliner and lipstick. Keep your eyes peeled for this new collection this coming spring.

New Pro Longwear Lipcreme from MAC

Every once in a while, an instant beauty classic is born. This is one of those times. MAC‘s iconic lipsticks complete a makeup collection whether you’re a makeup artist, makeup lover or just a woman who wears makeup. At one time or another (if not all the time), a MAC lipstick will, and should, make its way into your beauty regime.

I am a sucker for long-lasting products because I hate reapplying yet I loathe not having any makeup on at the end of the day. Pro Longwear Lipcreme ($19) is a new line of lip colours from MAC designed to counter those very problems. Plus, as the name suggests, the lipsticks are creamy and smooth. The hydrating formula makes for plump, lush lips every time.

The collection is made up of some amazing fall hues. Pictured above are the neutral to pink shades and two seemingly-vibrant-yet-pretty-subdued trendy shades. These lipcremes just glide on like lip balm. They’ll make your lips look and feel super moist and smooth. Aside from the formula, I am a huge fan of the matte approach to this new lip colour line. Fall is the perfect time to experiment with different textures, finishes and shades.

That brings us to the second half of this collection: The intense berry shades. Some of these colours (including my fave Extended Play, third from left) are perfect for achieving the 1940s-inspired vamp look. The colours are sophisticated, glamorous and everything a gal should be.

Pro Longwear Lipcreme has already made its way to MAC counters so head over anytime to check out the new colours. If strange, new colours are too much for you to handle, do yourself a favour and ask one of the expert makeup artists at the counter to test out different shades on you. You may be pleasantly surprised with how your last colour choice may look so open up and give it a try.

Venomous Villains: New Makeup from MAC

I’m so excited about MAC‘s new Venomous Villains collection, which will be hitting stores for a limited time at the end of the month. If there’s one thing female villains have going on for them, it’s that they’re always uber-glamorous. Showcasing infamous villains like Cruella de Vil and Snow White’s Evil Queen, the collection is devilishly spectacular.

My current obsessions are the Cruella de Vil products. Right now I’m loving the hyper-pigmented gloss: Lipglass in Wicked Ways ($18.50). It’s a vibrant red with a touch of shimmer in it. It’s not excessively sticky and it sort of gives a lipstick-like finish with a glossy twist. It’s rich, creamy and bold with a shiny, satin finish. It’s perfect for girls who want to experiment with the red lips trend but feel lipstick can be too matronly. This is the perfect shade of red for younger women.

I’m also using the Darkly My Dear Powder blush ($23.50). When applied with an angled brush, it really highlights my cheekbones and adds depth and definition to my face. Another bonus it’s that it’s totally on trend for fall 2010 because it has a matte finish. Plus, the dirty brown plum shade is a flattering fall choice.

The collection is filled with loads more awesome products (as you can see in the first photo). So get ready to shop ladies. Once you feast your eyes on these little gems, you won’t be able to resist!

    Excited?
