Loves: OPI Avojuice Skin Quenchers in Hibiscus Blossom

I’m so into OPI Avojuice hand and body lotions. I have been carrying a tiny peach-scented bottle around with me for the longest time. I adore the super fruity smells and the creams are so hydrating, yet non-greasy. They really feel fantastic on the skin and the sweet smell is just an added bonus! And since they’re made by OPI, you know they’re going to be great for nails, too. This new scent, Hibiscus Blossom, is made with avocado and aloe extracts so it really penetrates the skin, soothes and smoothes.

You can pick up this new scent now at professional spas and salons where OPI products are sold. The 200ml bottle retails for only $9.95. Have you tried these fab lotions before? Or are you an Avojuice Newbie?

I Want Miss Universe by OPI Polishes

OPI is always on top the latest trends so I’m not all that shocked they’re the official nail care sponsor of the Miss Universe competition. Whether you agree or disagree with the whole beauty pageant concept, you can’t help but get swept away by these new shades.

These lacquers will hit select salons and spas where OPI products are sold in August, which is actually not as far away as you might think. Can you believe we’re already nearing the end of June?

Anyhoo, pictured above is my personal favourite – a timeless shade, as far as I’m concerned – Congeniality is My Middle Name. This colour is a deep berry shade with the perfect amount of shimmer. I love it. Here’s the rest of the collection:

Swimsuit Nailed It – a vibrant electric blue.

It’s MY Year – a gorge champagne rose.

Crown Me Already – the ultimate silver sparkling polish.

Which shade is on your wish list this year?

Are You Into Pink This Summer?

OPI has just launched Nice Stems, a new collection of four limited edition pink nail polishes in different shades and finishes ($10.95 each).

What do you think of these pink polishes? My personal favourite is Play the Peonies, a super soft pink hue that really fits in well with the spring’s trends. I also think it’s also understated and elegant.

How do you feel about these pink nail colours? Which are your faves?

Shade: Be a Dahlia Won’t You?

    Shade: Come to Poppy

Me Fingers Are Sparklin’ With Glam Slam and Shatters by OPI

OPI is just exploding with product launches this summer but some of their most talked about newbies include the Serena Williams Glam Slam Duos ($20.95 per set) and the Shatter Polish ($10.95) available in a variety of awesome shades. I started out with the Glam Slam sparkling shades: Spark de Triomphe ( shimmering silver glitter polish) and Rally Pretty Pink (a gorge sunset pink glitter).

I actually super love these polishes alone, but they each come with a shatter polish, the newest sensation to hit the world of nail colours. I covered my Spark de Triomphe with one coat of White Shatter. In mere seconds, the polish cracked and turned from this….

    ….to this:

With my Rally Pretty Pink Polish, I paired Red Shatter. I absolutely adore the glittery pink by itself:

But the red shatter definitely shakes things up a little bit.

Aside from this amazing red, you can also snag the shatter polish in one of three amazing blue shades: cobalt, indigo and sapphire.

You can get these fabulous new polishes from OPI at select salons and spas. Check their website for more retail info. What do you think of shatter polish? Is it utterly hot? Or completely off the radar for you?

Pale Summer Lacquers from OPI? Don’t Mind If I do!

OPI is always ahead of the game when it comes to trend-setting colours. This spring, the pastel nail trend is kicking into high gear so you want to be prepared.

The Femme de Cirque SoftShades collection ($10.95) each is launching in April at select professional salons, spas and Trade Secrets. The collection offers 4 dreamy pink shades that vary from creamy to shimmering. The pale shades are so spring and definitely hyper-feminine.

For the Johnny Depp lovers of the world (myself included), OPI is also releasing a Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides collection with 6 limited edition shades ($10.95 each). This collection is a little more bright and perfect for the summer. My personal favourite is Planks a Lot, a vibrant yet soft purple.

Although the dark winter nail polish you’ve come to love is still acceptable, spring is the perfect time to delve into the trends a little more and embrace colours that speak to the season a little more. So lighten up! (Is it crazy that I find my own lame jokes ridiculously hilarious?!)

Sephora by OPI Flurry Up Top Coat…Thoughts??

I tried out this interesting top coat my friends at Sephora sent over for me to try out. Pictured below, I’m wearing a blush pink nail colour underneath (pales are so in for spring) and I finished off with this Sephora by OPI top coat. Flurry Up Top Coat ($12) adds a glittering finishing touch and is kind of like jewellery for your nails. The question is, do you like it or not?

I like the unique effect of these giant silver flecks of glitter. You can basically wear it over any nail colour to add a touch of glam to it. It’s also available in Only Gold For Me if the golden tones suit you better.

What do you think? Is this top coat totally cute or just too much for your taste?

The Sorbet-Style Texas Collection for Summer 2011

OPI‘s soon-to-be-launched spring/summer collection is absolutely perfect for the warmer weather. Reminiscent of a refreshing sorbet, the new Texas Collection (which will be hitting stores next month) is made up of 12 translucent shades that have that water-based look. You can double up the matte shades to give them a more opaque look or go for a single coat of one of the shimmering shades to give your nails a candy-coated finish.

I tried out a few of the season’s hottest shades to see for myself. First, I tried out San Tan-Tonio (my fave), a rich taupe that is the perfect example of why the nude trend is fabulous. I love the creamy finish of it.

Next, I tried out Don’t Moss With OPI. This grassy green shade is opaque when two coats are applied and in case you didn’t notice at the Golden Globes last weekend, green is the new “it” colour for 2011.

To give you an idea of how translucent Too Hot Pink To Hold ‘Em is, here are a couple of close-ups. As you can see, the colour is bright and vivacious yet it has a sheer finish. Ideally, I think these sheer colours looks best when you overlay on top of something else. Maybe on top of black nail lacquer. It can give your mani an edgy twist. If you’re into the light, fresh look, one coat on natural nails is all you need.

Austin-Tacious Turquoise is another sheer lacquer I like paired on top of black. It can give your mani or pedi a glamorous twist. If you like your nail lacquer sheer, apply a single coat and seal it with top coat. For a more opaque look, go for two coats. Just remember to apply to all ten fingers first before applying the second coat. You want to give each nail a few minutes to dry before you throw on another layer. This will prevent smudging a nail.

All 12 of the Texas Collection shades are due out in February 2011 for $10.95 each. For more retail info, visit www.opi.com.

Nicole by OPI Releases Exclusive Walmart Collection

While the thought of entering a busy Walmart on a Saturday morning scares me, I’d actually brave the crowds just to get my hands on these exclusive Nicole by OPI shades. Kicking off the new year with some vibrant polishes, OPI has successfully released another slew of trend-approved lacquers.

With four shades ranging from reds to purples, there’s something for every feminine gal out there. Personally, I’m in love with Count on Me which is a shimmering lavender shade. To give you a quick heads up, spring 2011 is going to be exploding with lavender from clothing to makeup. It’s a huge trend for the new year and once again, Nicole by OPI is ahead of it all. Aside from the trendy shade, I’m also really loving the pearly finish of it.

For the woman who loves to be on trend but prefers a more classic and sophisticated look, Never Give Up, a deep plum lacquer, is going to be right up your alley. Moving into the reds in this collection is He’s A Keeper. This particular red encompasses all the characteristics of the classic signature shade that has topped the trend charts countless times over the last few decades.

The more adventurous girl may want to experiment with Got Style?, a matte dirty rose (pictured below) that gives the traditional shade a stylish twist. You can find all four of these new polishes exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.com starting this month. Which one of these new shades is going to top your must-have list?

    Holiday Collection: Burlesque by OPI

To celebrate the opening of the new Christina Aguilera film, Burlesque, also featuring Cher and Kristen Bell, OPI is releasing a brand new nail colour collection this month which is just perfect for the holiday season.

“The colours were modeled off the majestic glamour, over-the-top costumes and mesmerizing Cabaret that are typically seen in Burlesque performances,” says Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, the Executive VP & Artistic Director for OPI. The dazzling nail lacquers are jam-packed with glitter and shimmer, making them holiday-ready, too.

With shades of blue, purple, green, orange, gold, deep reds and pinks, this ultra-glamorous collection has something for everyone. My personal favourite is Tease-y Does It, a seductive burgundy polish bursting with glitz and glamour. (I am slightly obsessed with red nails this month!)

I don’t recommend sporting red and green from head-to-toe for the holiday season (really tacky!), but a classic deep red is always suitable for the occasion. Not to mention that this season, deep red lipsticks and nail polishes and the ultra-vamp trend are hotter than ever.

The Burlesque nail collection, featuring 12 uniquely shimmering polishes will be available in professional salons and spas starting this month for $10.95 each. For more retail info, visit www.opi.com. The film, starring Christina Aguilera and Cher will be hitting theatres November 24.

Nicole by OPI New Matte Nail Polish

Nicole by OPI always surprises me with their fashion-forward nail lacquers and the latest collection to make its way to my doorstep is definitely one of my all-time faves.

Matte, matte, matte! That’s all I can say when it comes to fall trends. And Nicole by OPI has nailed it with the Matte Collection of nail lacquers ($10.49 each). Although the shades reflect the matte texture popularized on the runways this year, that’s not to say the shades are dull or lifeless. In fact, this collection is just the opposite.

I wouldn’t actually recommend sporting the colours the way I have in the photo. I only did that to show you as many of the colours as possible. As you can see, the bold colours are bursting with shimmer, even though they have a smooth, classy and matte finish. (TIP: I would skip on the top coat with these nail lacquers to keep the trend in tact.)

On my fingers (from index finger to pinky), I’m wearing Respect the World, a shimmering jade green; Stolen Kisses, a sparkling pinky-red, Virtuous Violet, a dazzling purple haze, and No Limits, a rich black bursting with sparkles. There are seven awesome shades to choose from: all sparkling, all matte and all on trend.

What do you think of the shimmering matte polishes? Is the irony a little too much for you? Or are you loving the combo?
