Argan 6 Oil from REDKEN – Just WOW!

On Tuesday night, I went to Enrico Coiffeurs Stylistes (2310 Ontario E., Montreal) to try out some new products from REDKEN. To give you some background info on this pic (that’s me and Enrico below), the products I was there to try were hydrating products for damaged hair. For a fine-haired gal like me, this usually translates into flat, lifeless hair, but as you can see, my ‘do has some texture and body! (Yes, that’s body for me!) Joico: Hair Products for a Cause

Not like we need any more excuses to purchase hair products, but Joico is releasing two hair product sets that will not only work wonders on your locks, but support Breast Cancer Research.

Starting at the end of the month, you can purchase Joico’s JoiMist Firm Classic aerosol spray duo ($30) or the JoiWhip styling foam duo ($30) in hair salons. The products are professional quality so that explains why you’ll only find them in salons. You’ll actually get 25% off the retail price by purchasing one of these sets, plus, you’ll be helping Joico donate $10,000 to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation.

My favourite part about the hairspray is that it protects your hair against sun damage. Even in winter, sun damage is a risk! UV rays harm your skin and hair all year long so do what you can to protect yourself.

If your locks are a little on the damaged side, I suggest opting for the styling foam duo because it’s an alcohol-free product which contains Hawaiian Kukui nut oil, known for its healing properties.

Get luscious hair AND support a great cause. Kudos to Joico for helping out. I urge all my readers to join the fight against cancer, in whichever way you choose. Just remember that every penny counts and there are people across the country who are in desperate need of a cure. We can all help.

Have a fabulous day, beautiful people!

Colouring your hair? Ask for INOA

If you colour your hair at the salon regularly, you can’t afford to miss out on this info. L’Oréal Professionnel is known for amazing hair products so it’s no surprise they’re the first to engineer this new product: INOA. This in-salon hair colour system was introduced a few months ago but I was reluctant to share it with my readers for one simple reason. It was new and I didn’t know whether or not it would be as good as they said it would be. It sort of sounded to good to be true.

But my journalistic skills have been at work the last few months and after compiling some research from clients and salon owners, I’m able to sincerely tell you how great INOA is. It’s the first hair colour that doesn’t smell. Normally, they have a really strong odour which has always made me wonder why anyone would colour their hair to begin with.

INOA, unlike any other hair colouring system, is odourless and is 45% gentler than regular hair dyes so it’s far less damaging. If you dye your hair monthly, you need to get to a salon that uses INOA products. I can’t tell you how much damage regular dyes can cause over time. If there’s a better alternative that yields the exact same, long-lasting colour, why not, right?

INOA is ammonia free AND permanent; a combination which has never been possible before. Plus, it’s rich in nourishing oils so it strengthens hair while it infuses it with colour. It’ll also maintain your hair’s natural and essential amino acids. This way, your hair won’t be stripped of its natural elements during the colouring process. So far, I’ve heard only great feedback from hair stylists and clients alike. If customers like how their hair feels after using INOA and they agree the colour lasts just as long, then I’m sold.

You can check out the website to locate an INOA salon near you. It seems salons all over Canada have already switched to this new product so you shouldn’t have trouble locating one.

    Power tools for your hair

For those of you who don’t know me, I have super straight hair. When I say super straight, I mean pin straight. Curling irons? Useless on me. I have to spend hours with my hair in rollers under a very hot hair drying machine to get curly hair that turns into loose waves a mere hour later. So it’s not really worth the time or the money spent at the salon to get the look I want.

But my life changed when I discovered Rowenta Beauty last month. I have to say that I love the Rowenta Beauty hair dryer, but the flat iron is (ironically enough) the best thing that ever happened to me.

I’ll start with the Infini Pro Sensor hair dryer. It works great, has several different settings and I noticed my hair feels much softer after I dry it with the Rowenta Beauty blow dryer. It also has a sensor so if your hair is dry and you still have the dryer on it, it will turn itself off to keep from burning your mane.

Up next, my fave piece: The flat iron. It’s great for straightening hair but I don’t actually use it for that. I use it to curl my hair. I twist the Professional Titanium Ceramic Iron through my hair in the same way I would use a curling iron and in less than 15 minutes, my hair goes from flat to WOW! I took these pics for you this morning to show you the difference. The first image is my naturally straight, virtually uncurlable hair. The second is 15 minutes later after using the Rowenta flat iron to curl my locks.

The tool is a tad pricey ($219.99) but as far as I’m concerned, it’s worth every last cent. Because the flat iron heats up to 450 degrees (Fahrenheit), it can style your hair almost any way you want. The best part for me is that the curls look natural and they last. My hair still looks this spectacular after I’ve slept on it! As someone who has lived her whole life dreaming of the supposedly-impossible curl, I’m head-over-heels for this brand.

Oh ya, and I didn’t use even one spritz of hairspray. I try to avoid using products when I can and with the power of this iron, I don’t need anything else. My only suggestion is to use a thermal protecting spray before using the flat iron. It gets extremely hot and heat can be your hair’s worst enemy if you don’t protect it.

Rowenta Beauty products were used behind the scenes at Montreal Fashion Week and are sold exclusively in select salons. Check out their website, to find a salon near you.
