Say Goodbye to Winter Skin Problems

Just in case you need another reason to loathe the winter (like I do), let me tell you exactly how winter damages your skin during this frigid season. Extreme cold and extreme heat indoors can cause the skin to dry out excessively. The lack of adequate sebum on the surface of the skin and in the layers beneath it can lead to cracking and flaking, which are openings for bacteria. This can lead to eczema and other skin conditions.

When your skin suffers from problems like this, you have to be so careful what you use to treat it. Many products with harsh additives can cause even more irritation and redness. You may want to consider Diane Lai’s Rejuvenate ($45) and Soothe ($34) skin care products.

Rejuvenate can be used as a daily moisturizer and it’s made for highly sensitive skin. It’s even safe enough for babies so there’s no way it can cause any irritation. My boyfriend, who happens to be a pharmacist and an extremely picky man when it comes to skin care, has been using this cream for the last couple of weeks and he loves it. He told me that the light lavender scent is just right (he can’t handle smelly products) and the cream leaves his skin feeling soft, hydrated and smooth. (He’ll probably kill me for sharing this secret…)

Then there’s Soothe, which is ideal for soothing skin irritations like red patches, eczema, sunburn, insect bites, etc. Diane Lai products are all natural and suitable for adults, children and toddlers. In fact, Diane created these products herself when her own son was a newborn. She noticed he had some rashes on his cheeks and neck and there were no products out there that didn’t contain parabens, lanolin, paraffin, mineral oil, and phthalates. So she created it!
