I try any and all volumizing hair products so when I got wind of the new Extra Volume Shampoo and Conditioner from Moroccanoil, I had to try them out for myself. My hair is need of a cut — I’m going tonight actually — so this is the time when my hair is flattest. Read on to find out how these products worked out for me.
Hair loss in both men and women is never really enjoyable but for women, for whom it is much less socially acceptable, thinning hair can be downright devastating. I recently did some research for an article I wrote for Reader’s Digest about hair loss and I learned that most women have very few alternatives compared to men. However, I have a solution for both men and women suffering from unwanted thinning hair.

Green products seem to be the wave of the future so for those of you who definitely want to make a smaller carbon footprint but don’t want to sacrifice the luxuries you’re used to when it comes to beauty products, here’s one fab solution.
Yves Rocher’s new Radiance Shampoo ($8) is going to surprise you. I hate to admit it, but I have very few expectations of products that don’t have the ingredients I’m used to. But this shampoo is absolutely fabulous. It really nourishes the hair without weighing it down. It’s suitable for almost all hair types and it’s incredibly affordable, to boot!
Made with natural ingredients like vitamin E, lemon extract and botanical cleansing ingredients, you’re sure to get clean, luscious and eco-friendly hair with this product. Plus, whenever you buy a product from Yves Rocher’s Botanical Product Collection, one tree will be planted until 50 million new trees have been planted all over the world. So far, Yves Rocher has managed to plant 12 million. Great job!
Get faboosh hair and do your part to save the planet at the same. Remember, Earth Day is coming up on April 22. Start thinking of ways you can help out. Radiance Shampoo will be available at Yves Rocher stores and online starting next month.Tags: April, botanical, Earth Day, hair, hair products, online shopping, shampoo, shopping, spring, Yves Rocher
This month, TRESemmé released a collection of Climate Protection products and my first thought was, “It’s about time!” Maybe I’m living in a cave but I haven’t come across all that many products that promise to withstand the horrible weather conditions our precious locks are subject to in Canada: heat, humidity, cold, wind, etc.
To be 100% certain of the efficacy of these products, I brought the travel-sized versions with me to Jamaica last month to face the ultimate humidity test. As you can see my photos, even in the tropical climate, my hair didn’t get frizzy, fuzzy or flat. After a night out in the humid air, my hair is straight and frizz-free.Better shot of my hair…outside next to the pool. It doesn’t get any more humid than that! Yet, still just as I styled it.
I used the Climate Protection Shampoo and Conditioner ($5.99 each) to start. The products are made for all hair types. I have fine hair but lots of it and I didn’t find the products to be too heavy. Yet, they did add some moisture to my locks. If you need intense hydration because of really dry hair or split ends, you’ll definitely want to continue using your normal leave-in treatment. Oily hair sufferers, no worries, these products are great for you, too.
My real favourite of the entire collection though is the Climate Protection Finishing Spray ($6.49). In general, I use very little hairspray or none because I find it can make my hair feel dirty. But this one is super lightweight and you won’t feel like you have any in there at all. It acts as a sealant that literally blocks the humidity out so your hair stays as you styled it, yet remains flexible and soft.
I also use it here in good old Montreal and it really helps me manage my crazy fly-aways! Those are particularly annoying when static acts up and I lose control of them.
The super affordable Climate Protection collection is available in pharmacies now.Tags: Climate Protection., conditioner, finishing spray, hair, hairspray, shampoo, shopping, TRESemmé
This month, NEXXUS is releasing their all-new Pro-Mend collection. Believe it or not, this collection aims to reconnect already split ends while preventing future split ends. Sound unbelievable? Well believe it! They’re definitely not miracle products or something far-fetched, but they actually do help repair split ends. Positive and negatively charged ions work together to mend split ends. The whole scientific process can be a little complex, but all you really need to know is that the products do work.
Using the shampoo and conditioner regularly (which is what I’ve been doing for the last two months) will give your hair a softer feel and reduce the appearance of split ends. Those nasty white tips really mess up a hairstyle. Made with coconut oil, amino acids and keratin, Pro-Mend Shampoo ($9.99) and Pro-Mend Conditioner ($14.99) intensely nourish and protect hair while repairing damage.
After cleansing, don’t skimp on the Split-End Binding Targeted Leave-In Creme ($9.99). Leave-ins should really be a no-brainer. They deeply penetrate the hair and hydrate. This particular one also repairs split end damage and helps keep tips whole.
If you have a big split end problem and use heated styling tools too much, you definitely want to get acquainted with Split-End Binding Overnight Treatment Creme ($14.99). Unlike the leave-in treatment, this one should be applied to dry hair. It may feel like you’re dirtying your hair at first but the product actually dries up very quickly because the hair absorbs it. Just apply it to your ends every night and go to sleep. The next morning your hair will look and feel healthy, smooth and split-end free.
And last but not last, this collection includes Heat Protector Styling Spray ($12.99). While the Pro-Mend collection repairs damage, it’s always easier to prevent damage than it is to repair it. Remember that if you have long hair, the ends of your hair have been with you for years, facing harsh winters, humid temperatures and other environmental damage. It has been dealing with your heated styling tools for too long. If you use a flat iron, you absolutely need a thermal protector like this.
The all-new Pro-Mend collection from NEXXUS, my newest fave products, are hitting pharmacies today! If you suffer from dry and excessively damaged hair, you’re going to love L’Oréal Paris Hair Expertise‘s newest product collection: Total Repair 5. The collection is made up of shampoo and conditioner ($5.99 each) and 3 different treatments ($6.99 each). Personally, I am addicted to the Leave-In Repairing Detangling Spray. It intensely hydrates my hair and leaves it feeling silky soft and smooth.
The Detangling Spray (pictured above in centre) is designed to visibly reduce breakage and repair damage caused by dyes, the elements and heated styling tools. I have been using it every time I wash my hair and it’s made my hair softer and my split ends less noticeable.
Depending on the extent of damage, you can also opt for the Night Elixir. You can apply this product to dry hair and by morning, you can expect to see incredibly soft hair. If you have colour-treated or very dry hair, I recommend using this product every night.
One of my favourites in this collection is the Repairing Mask. As I always say, a hair mask once a week is the best way to achieve healthy locks. It’s all about choosing the one that’s right for your hair type. If yours is damaged and dry, this mask will do the trick. It deeply penetrates the hair follicles to create lasting moisture from the inside out. It’s especially good for brittle hair.
The new Total Repair 5 Collection is hitting pharmacies this month so keep your eyes peeled for it. Luscious hair is only a pharmacy-visit away.PRO TIPS FROM ERIC DEL MONACOThe Official Hair Artist and Colorist for L’Oréal Paris Has a few insider treatment tips for you:1. Squeeze excess water from hair before applying treatment.2. Run a wide-toothed comb through hair after applying treatment for even distribution and to de-tangle hair.3. Apply treatment an inch away from the scalp.4. For optimum conditioning, slip on a shower cap for 5-10 minutes so that the treatment formula can penetrate into hair.5. After applying treatment, come out of the shower and blow dry hair to open up the air cuticle and allow for intense conditioning of the hair.Tags: advice., coloured hair, conditioner, hair, hair mask, hair products, L'Oréal Paris Hair Expertise, night elixir, repair mask, shampoo, shopping, tips, Total Repair
First off, sorry for the missed post yesterday. I was really under-the-weather and couldn’t write up my daily post. My bad! But today I’m good as new and back in the game.
I just came back from a glorious week in Jamaica this past weekend and the first thing I noticed when I got off the plane (other than the fact that I was freezing) was that my hair felt drier and more coarse than it did when I was in the wonderful Jamaican climate. Thank God I still had some LUSH Rehab Shampoo ($12.95 100ml/ $23.95 250ml/ $39.95 500ml) left.
This shampoo is great because its main purpose is to strengthen hair and bring it back to life using all-natural ingredients (no chemical stuff) like papaya, kiwi and pineapple extracts. These products actually digest dirt and control excess sebum while keeping your hair perfectly hydrated and smooth.
It also contains jojoba, almond and olive oils which are the best ingredients you can get when it comes to instant hydration of the hair. My hair got damaged in the sun and when I got home, the sub-zero temperatures and windy conditions dried it out even further. A few shampoos with this product and my locks were good as new. You can actually feel it working when you use it.
Tip: Follow up with a hydrating conditioner as well. Remember never to apply conditioner to your roots. Only apply from midway down to the tips, with emphasis on the ends.Tags: dry hair, hair, handmade cosmetics, Lush, online shopping, rehab shampoo, shampoo, shopping, winter hair.
I’ve heard of lots of different kind of hair products but detoxifying hair care products that literally purify your hair and repair environmental damage are a first for me. REDKEN’s all-new Nature’s Rescue line sets out to do just that: detoxify and eliminate impurities caused by the environment. Infused with aloe vera and sea algae, your hair is in for some major moisture with this line.
The Refreshing Detox Shampoo ($15.49) purifies hair and rids it of pollution build-up. If you use lots of products like gels and hairsprays or your hair is subject to harsh weather conditions (which is literally unavoidable in this country) then build-up can be a problem. It can make your hair flatter, more dull and less healthy-looking overall. Think of detoxifying as unclogging your pores. It will allow your hair to get its healthy shine and natural volume back.
To complete the regimen, remember to use the Cooling Deep Conditioner ($17.89). It’s an ultra-moisturizing product that will balance your hair while keeping it hydrated and smooth. I’m a huge fan of this little gem. (Tip: Hydrated hair is less prone to static in winter.)
If you need a quick refresher, opt for the Radiant Sea Spray ($23.39). It’s a lightweight spray that has a soft oceanic scent to it. It’ll give your hair texture and a fresh aroma. I recommend using it on a bad hair day to give your locks a little boost.
The Nature’s Rescue line debuted at Salon Odyssée in Montreal. If you’re in the city, definitely check out this chic locale and ask about the new Nature’s Rescue line. If you’re not in Montreal, just look for a REDKEN salon in your city or call 1-866-9-REDKEN for more information.Tags: conditioner, hair, hair care, hair products, Nature’s Rescue, REDKEN, Salon Odyssée., shampoo, shopping, spray
It shouldn’t surprise you that the line of hair products she used to get this gorgeous hairstyle is none other than Moroccanoil. To rock this look, dry and split ends are a definite faux pas. To get Emily’s locks looking silky soft, Laini used Moroccanoil Moisture Repair Shampoo and the Original Treatment. Then she applied some Intense Curl Control Cream (the most recent addition to the Moroccanoil clan) and parted Emily’s hair on the side.
Laini used the Glimmer Shine Spray on Emily’s wet hair and let it dry after using pins to create the waves. (So you add pins and wait for the hair to dry in that position.) Then she raked her fingers through the dry hair to give the waves a more natural effect. Once the waves were ready, Laini used a flat paddle brush to keep the roots flat and the waves in tact. Add some pins to hold the hair back behind the ears, spray some Luminous Hairspray and just like that, you’ll be red carpet ready.
