Oooh I Love: The New Smashbox In Bloom Collection

The new In Bloom Collection by Smashbox is going to top the must-have lists of beauty addicts everywhere this spring. This soft, wearable and supremely feminine collection is perfect for the lady who wants a pretty and sophisticated summertime look. It plays on the lavender trend for 2011 and combines it with the classic neutrals no gal should go without. The emphasis with this collection is on sultry eyes and an illuminated, radiant appearance.

In Bloom Eyeshadow Palette & Brush ($55) is a steal since it contains $207 worth of goodies. The shades inside are ballet pink, lavender grey, golden pink, warm taupe, bone, soft violet, marine blue, shimmering copper, moss and nude. With both shimmering and matte shades, the possibilities are endless.

To complement your sultry gaze, considering opting for Soft Focus Powder Eye Liner ($25). Powder liner is a simple way to get that seductive look you crave. In fact, powder liner has been my personal insider secret for years. I have always applied powder to my lash line with an angled brush rather than liquid or a pencil liner and it’s never failed me. Now that Smashbox offers it in a bottle with its own brush, even easier!

In case you haven’t already heard, cream blush is the latest and most incredible fad to hit the beauty industry. The creamy texture of blush makes for a flawless, photo finish with a second skin effect. It looks and feels weightless and natural and the result is more intense and longer-lasting than ordinary pressed powders. If you’re in need of a cream blush, you may want to check out Cream Cheek Duo in Blushing Peony ($30).

One of my favourite products in this collection is the Artificial Light Luminizing Powder ($23). In a shimmering soft nude shade, this powder will illuminate your look in more ways than one. My favourite way to use powder like this is to highlight the cheekbones, brow bones and inner corners of the eyes. Just a dab on each of those crucial zones can brighten your entire face and give you that extra wow factor.

The all-new In Bloom Collection was just released a few days ago and is available at select Pharmaprix/Shopper’s Drug Mart stores, Murale and Sephora.

Customize Your Eyeshadow with Eye Illusion from Smashbox

Not sure what to do with some of your funky eyeshadow hues? That’s where Eye Illusion from Smashbox comes in. This trio of iridescent shades is great for brushing over any other eyeshadow or liner. If the colour is too matte or too dark for your taste, Eyeshadow Illusion ($42 at Sephora) is a great way to customize the hue to a shade that’s right for you.

Personally, I like the idea of using the iridescent colours alone, too. It’s great for shimmering, yet subdued daytime eye makeup that’s meant to illuminate and enhance your gaze. You can also blend it with other colours to give them a luminous finish or a subtle hint of another colour. That way, if you only have a few eyeshadows at home, you can play around with Eye Illusion to create tons of different shades and finishes without literally investing in tons of different makeup products.

Smashbox, in case you don’t already know (and shame on you if you don’t!) is known for unique, trendy and quality products. I know $42 may seem a little pricey, but when you consider the different ways you can use it and that it can get you more use out of products you already own, you might agree that it’s worth the splurge.

What do you think? Or you totally on board with the matte trend or are you anxious to try out this lustrous product to experiment with shimmer and iridescence?
