Sephora Loves Canada, and We Love Them Right Back!

Sephora’s latest combo palette is called Sephora Loves Canada and it’s totally adorable. It’s jam-packed with $60 worth of cosmetics but retails for only $18! I love me a good bargain.

I am a huge fan of this limited edition summertime palette because it includes some of my fave colours of the season. There are 9 khaki, beige and pink eyeshadows that can be mixed and match in a million different ways. I love how this nude palette is making the most of the season’s trendiest colours.

The palette also includes 4 romantic lip glosses varying from deep to baby pink. And to finish off your summertime look with this collection, the palette also includes a gorgeous pale pink blush to accent the cheeks and illuminate your entire face. Blush pinks and neutrals are hot for spring 2011 so this budget-friendly goody is a can’t-miss!

It’s available at Sephora now but only for a limited time. Will you be heading to a store near you to snag this amazing product?

    Fragrance Obsession: Bora Bora

I know I say this all the time, but I am super in love with this new fragrance. I’m becoming a total perfume junkie these days so I told myself I’d try it out for testing purposes and that was it. But it’s just too good to let go and now my luxe scents have taken a back seat to it. All I wear these days is Bora Bora by Lise Watier.

It’s a soft vanilla scent with hints of passionflower, jasmine and rose. It’s like a fruit cocktail straight from the islands. I hate floral perfumes — no wait, I loathe floral perfumes – because they’re usually just nasty. But this fragrance is light, flirty and super feminine. I feel like I’m on vacation with this scent.

If you hold the bottle to your nose and close your eyes, I swear you will smell the tropics! My favourite part about this aroma? It’s a total steal. It’s currently available at Lise Watier counters, online in their new e-boutique and at Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart for $50. And trust me, you’ll use this one to the last drop so you’ll get your money’s worth. Way less expensive than a trip to Bora Bora, no?

New Shimmering Rouge Lip Colour from Shiseido

Here’s an all-new lip colour to add to your wardrobe just in time for spring. (As if you even need any more excuses to buy more makeup.) This shimmering lip colour is so great. When the item was launched, I was invited to the Shiseido counter at the Bay in downtown Montreal to meet with the pros at Shiseido and try the lip colour out myself.

I fell in love with the texture right away. Shimmering Rouge ($30) is ultra-hydrating so it makes the lips appear more plump and full. It feels great on and the shimmering colour is an added bonus. It’s like wearing a nourishing lip balm that just so happens to have a spectacular finish.

It also comes in 13 different shades, ranging from neutral tones to deep berry, orange and pink. I got to see all the colours at the Shiseido counter and I love each and every one of them. And while I was there, I even got to take these adorable pictures in the Shiseido photo booth.  I’m wearing the colour pictured above. As you can see, it’s natural yet totally gorgeous.

Please excuse the quality. I scanned these from my iPhone!

This new product is available only at the Bay.

Get on the Sleek and Shiny Hair Trend with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray

While you may not all be fans of Kim Kardashian, you have to admit, her hair is fabulous! I love it when she leaves it down, but being the trend-setting beautista that she is, Kim also knows how to sport one of 2011’s hottest hair trends.

The sleek and shiny tightly pulled back look hit the runways for spring this year and apparently designers are celebs alike are falling in love with it. Call me crazy but this look made my list of faves this season simply because it’s the perfect solution to a bad hair day!

To nail Kim’s look yourself, pull your hair back as tightly as you can with a paddle brush and secure with a new elastic. Don’t grab a 3-year-old elastic which has lost all of its elasticity! Grab a newbie and wrap that ‘do up. Then, I recommend finishing off with Moroccanoil Glimmer Shine Spray ($25.80).

Now don’t be scared. Shine spray doesn’t make your hair look dirty as long as you apply it correctly. Hold the bottle a few inches above your hair and spray the product once or twice at most. Wait for the spray to settle and dry and then you’ll be ready to go.

It’s very simple but many of us have a bad relationship with shine spray, only because we’re using it improperly. Trust me, when done correctly, this provides a nice, shiny finish. Besides, when has Moroccanoil ever led us down the wrong path?

Remember that less is more and you’ll turn your hair into a shiny and sleek runway hairstyle in no time. And you can use it when your hair is down, too. Just give it a quick spritz, let it set and just like that you’ll have ultra-shiny, lustrous-looking hair this summer! You can find these goodies at select salons. Visit their website for more info.

Rock Your Nails with Dior’s Limited Edition Spring Nail Polish

The lovers of rock are going to swoon for this collection. Dior Vernis is known for being not only super trendy but long-lasting. I’m never disappointed with a Dior polish. Next month, they’ll be releasing the Rock Collection ($24 each), which will be exclusive to the Bay.

With 5 amazing shades and one smoky-finish topcoat, I’ve decided I need (yes, need) them all. My favourite is Perfecto #804 which is a slate grey shade. It’s the perfect follow-up to last season’s Gris Montaigne, which was an amazing hit in the beauty world. While lights polish is hot for spring 2011, a few dark shades are timeless, like deep purple and indigo.

The only sad part is that these lacquers are limited edition so who knows how long they’ll last. I’m giving you ample time to prepare. Head to the Bay store nearest you April 1 and snag your faves before anyone else does.

I’m Obsessing Over Colourful Eyes from Yves Rocher

Aside from the fact that I’m just purely over winter, I’m desperate for the warmer weather to hit so I can start sporting these crazy colourful eyes with my new goodies from Yves Rocher. This trend-setting brand has been completely wow-ing me this year!

Eye makeup (my fave) is a great place to experiment with colour. As you can see by the wicked photo above, colourful eyeliner can be the hottest thing ever. Maybe walking around the streets with that many colours wouldn’t work in real life, but you can definitely replace your usual black eyeliner with one of these flashy colours to call attention to your eyes. I’m addicted to the Waterproof Eye Pencil in Turquoise No. 5 ($12). It really enhances brown and hazel eyes and it gives your look a very subtle touch of glam. Plus, it’s a smooth glide pencil so it’s super easy to apply.

I suggest wearing this flashy eyeliner with nude eyeshadow, soft blush and barely-there gloss so the eyes can take centre stage. For the times when a good old-fashioned black eyeliner is called for, I like to use the Felt Tip Eyeliner ($16). It stays in place for 12 hours and it’s ultra-pigmented so it makes for a really exaggerated cat-eye. It’s also a great option for women who love the liquid liner effect but can’t use it (guilty!). I can’t use it either. I always makes a huge mess. The long felt tip makes it really simple to apply and you can stop and continue without messing up the look at all. I love it.

To complete any eye makeup look, a mascara is always needed. I have really grown to become a huge fan of Yves Rocher mascaras so 360 Length Mascara ($19) fit into my routine perfectly. It really does make my lashes longer and thicker and the spherical tip means I never miss those tiny lashes along the inner corner of the eye. Plus, it’s enriched with almond protein, which also coats and protects lashes from damage.

This beautiful new collection will be available at Yves Rocher stores and online starting next month.

What’s on My Sephora Radar Today

If you’ve been to Sephora lately, you may have noticed these. If you haven’t, you’ll be planning your next visit after this. Sephora has a knack for making me fall in love with products I never knew I needed. I actually get as giddy as a schoolgirl when a package from them appears at my doorstep. Most recently, I received a combo palette and everyone knows I LOVE combo palettes! They get me every time!

What’s great about the Sephora Collection Color Diary (originally $34, now $30) is that it contains 5 separate sets of eyeshadows with a matching blush and lip gloss plus a convenient carrying case. You can actually just pop out the palette you need for the day, place it in the small, neat carrying case and have all the makeup you need to go from day to night in the palm of your hand. It fits in the smallest compartment of my purse so it’s super convenient.

The colours really vary, which I love. It has the bold and vibrant shades that spring 2011 is calling for yet it also has the subdued earth tones that we all need. If you can believe it, my fiancé actually complemented my eyeshadow the first day I tried this palette. Weird, I know. This is also the same guy who has repeatedly asked me to stop wearing “sticky stuff” on my lips.

This spring, you’ll also find the Sephora brand Flower Kabuki Brush Set ($41). I like kabuki brushes for applying bronzer and all-over face powder. They really evenly distribute makeup and can be very handy. I like these particular ones because they’re just adorable.

    Natural Beauty from COVERGIRL NatureLuxe

I’ve been blown away by vibrant and colourful makeup for spring this past month or so, as you may have noticed by my flashy orange lips last week. But as much am I love the bold trends for spring 2011, we can’t forget that pales, nudes and natural hues are also on trend. (Side note: in my personal opinion, natural makeup never goes out of style.)

COVERGIRL has just released a line of cosmetics that replaces conventional synthetic ingredients with hand-picked natural ones instead. My favourite item is the Liquid Silk Foundation ($15.99). Available in 14 different shades, this lightweight foundation also has SPF 10. Do I need to lecture you again on the importance of wearing sunscreen EVERY DAY?

I have been wearing it all day for the last couple of weeks and I find it to be ultra-covering yet invisible. It doesn’t have that cakey look that some foundations can give. It really gives your face a natural look.

The collection also includes Gloss Balm With SPF 15 ($11.99). Available in 16 light, natural and understated shades, this product acts as both a lip enhancer and a balm. It’s so creamy and soft and keeps my lips ultra-hydrated all day long. It provides a sheer look that is just so sexy for summer. I’ve been wearing number 240 (pictured below) and I totally love it.

Bonus: The face of this collection is Taylor Swift. And we loves Swifty!

If These Lips Could Talk…Oh Wait, They Can! And They Want Bourjois Paris Sweet Kiss Lipstick

I’ve attended loads of beauty events, but I can honestly say the last Bourjois Paris Spring 2011 event I attended a few months back was one of the most memorable. To show me the beauty of lipstick, Bourjois Paris introduced me to Jilly Eddy, the very first lip print interpretation expert I’ve ever met.

I applied Sweet Kiss Lipstick ($18) and kissed a sheet of paper twice. The imprints of my lips were stared at by Jilly for a few minutes and she then began to tell me some things about myself. The way I pursed my lips to kiss the sheet told Jilly that I am a creative being, I have an old soul and I’m very nice unless you ruffle my feathers. My bad side is pretty ugly. I hate to admit it, but all true!

    #57  – Fuchsia Class

It was a great experience and I realized the lips reveal a lot more about our personalities than we think. The truth is, everything we do reflects who we are we just aren’t conscious of it. But listening to someone tell you about yourself was amazing. And it reminded me that I definitely want my lips looking their best…just in case anyone is trying to read me!

Sweet Kiss is a collection of ultra-hydrating, nourishing lip colours. It glides smoothly on the lips and is available in 14 shades. I am totally addicted to them. The colours range from nudes to berries and pinks. Pictured above is my fave hot pink lipstick. Here are a couple more I love.

#41 – Beige Elegant (My current go-to colour)

    #45 – Orange Apprêté

You can find the Sweet Kiss collection along with Bourjois Paris‘ other goodies at Pharmaprix/Shopper’s Drug Mart and select Murale stores.

Want to know more about lipsology? (I know, it’s so cool.) Check out Jilly Eddy’s website — and keep your pout looking great!

New Prada Fragrances for Men and Women This Spring

I’m really early with this blog post, but I want to make sure I give you all a head start. If you’re looking for a new fragrance for your man, look no further than Prada‘s newest fragrance: Amber Pour Homme Intense ($90) which will be hitting Pharmaprix / Shopper’s Drug Mart and Murale April 15.

This newest addition to the Prada Amber fragrance family is a limited edition product so you definitely don’t want to get your hands on it fast. When I received this bottle and smelled the aroma, I pictured in my head the manliest of men. The patchouli and vanilla fragrance is light and soft but it has that sexy scent I love on a man. It has a slightly spicy scent to it, too so it’s definitely for the adventurous man in your life.

Prada released new fragrances for spring 2010 and they were fabulous. This year is no different. The fashion house is well known for their iconic designs and their fragrance collection upholds the same elite standards and flawless reputation.

Ladies, don’t worry. There’s a fragrance for us, too. Infusion de Rose ($120) is a sweet scent made of up of the aromas of beeswax, peppermint, mandarin and rose. It’s a delicate scent made for the effortlessly chic, sophisticated and utterly elegant femme fatale. Like Amber Pour Homme Intense, Infusion de Rose only hits shelves April 15. If a statement-making fragrance is what you’re after, you’ll definitely think it’s worth the wait.

Speaking of fragrances, I’m curious. Are you loyal to one specific scent or do you play the field? I have to admit…I’m a disloyal fragrance fiend. I wear a different one everyday and am now up to 11 scents in my rotation! How about you?
