Limited Edition: Summer Makeup Must-Haves from Yves Rocher

This month, Yves Rocher is launching a limited edition collection of makeup called Jardin des Nymphes. Focused on shimmering golds, green and neutrals, this collection is everything you need for the perfect summer look. Here are my fave products:

Intense Eye Pencil ($6): These super soft glide pencils promise 8-hour wear and can be worn on the lids as eyeshadow or eyeliner.

    Gold Sunshine

    Navy Green

Sunny Trip Powder Compact ($14): This subtle shimmer powder is perfect for complementing and illuminating a bronzed complexion.

Pearly Water ($10): Dip a brush into this sparkling formula and sweep across the cheekbones, nose and brow bones. It’ll give your skin a subtle gold shimmer that will really enhance a sun-kissed glow.

Gel Blush ($5): This super budget-friendly blush is a light jelly texture that glides onto the skin smoothly with a brush or with your fingertips. It will give your cheeks a naturally flushed look that’s perfect for an understated summertime look.

Soft Orange Nail Polish ($3): These mini nail polishes (also available in Deep Green and Pink Nymphaea) all leave the nails with a lacquered finish and intense colour. I am a huge fan of the orange this year. It’s one of my favourite trendy colours of the season.

Aveda Gives Us a Sneak Peek into SS2011

I know we’re barely over summer 2010 and we’re just getting ready for fall, but Aveda has shared an awesome new look for next summer that I just had to show you now. I’m loving this complex braid Odile Gilbert from Aveda styled at Jason Wu’s SS2011 Fashion Week Show in NYC last week.

The sophisticated, 70s-inspired braid is going to be a hit for next summer but there’s no reason why you can’t start sporting the hot new look now. Be ahead of the trend game by scoring this look with Aveda‘s helpful tips.

To get the look, start with Aveda Smooth Infusion™ Style-Prep Smoother™ to smooth and tame flyaways. Pull the hair back into four sections around the nape of the neck and spray with Aveda Air Control™ Hair Spray to give the hair a shiny, flexible finish. Wrap each section of hair in ribbon that matches your hair colour. Tie four braids and spray with Aveda Control Force™ Firm Hold Hair Spray to keep the looking from going astray.

Tie the braids together with a thick piece of fabric (like the one pictured) and pin the bottom to the top of the braids. Add some bobby pins to secure the hairstyle in place and add a touch more hairspray. It sounds a little complicated but it’s actually super easy to do on someone else. Pair up with a friend and try the look out on each other.

What do you think of the modified braid trend? Love or hate?
