Maybe I’m becoming an old biddy 70 years too soon, but when it comes to shopping in a physical store, I get real grumpy. I’m all about online shopping. No sales people to deal with and no lineups at the cash register. If you’re like me, get ready to purchase these adorable balms in your PJs starting next month.
I love, love, love that this collection from The Body Shop is made with 100% fair trade ingredients and is completely animal-friendly since it’s vegetarian. Read on to find out what secret ingredients make these products ahhh-mazing!Tags: beauty, cream foundation, fair trade, foundation, liquid foundation, loose powder, makeup, mineral makeup, The Body Shop, vegetarian
I am not ashamed to admit it – I’m a body butter maniac! Is it a crime to want to soft, silky skin? I am constantly creaming myself up because I hate the feeling of dry skin and I want to keep my skin looking young and flexible as long as is humanly possible.
The Body Shop has just released a great new product that is going to make combination skin-sufferers very happy. The Body Butter Duo ($16) is divided into two sections: one for dry skin and one for normal skin. That way you can get extra hydration only where you need it. Too much moisture can make normal skin greasy so if you have combination skin like me, or have dryer areas like elbows and knees, you won’t have to buy several creams. Just this one!
If you’re familiar with The Body Shop’s body butters you know they’re loaded with my fave naturally hydrating ingredient: shea butter. They’ll leave your skin soft to the touch. Choose from one of their four fab aromas (Vanilla, Acai Berry, Sweet Pea and Macadamia) and you’ll have nothing but super supple skin this summer.
This summer, you can master the art of the natural, dewy glow like Hollywood A-lister Mila Kunis. I’m loving this pretty actress this year. She has hit the red carpet for numerous events in the last few months looking nothing short of spectacular. The natural, dewy glow on trend for spring 2011 and I think Mila totally nails this look. What makes it work? Only a few spots on her face are highlighted and because a little goes a long way, her entire face is glowing.
I’ve become a huge fan of this look and Illuminating Face Base from The Body Shop has made copying it a breeze. To score Mila’s red carpet glow, use this amazing illuminator sparingly. Just twist the bottom and Apricot Glow illuminating will gently soak the applicator brush.
Sweep the brush over the apples of your cheeks, temples, brow bone and lightly across your nose. The brightening formula totally illuminates the face and gives the skin a natural, radiant glow. The summer is the ultimate time of year to sport the dewy look so pick your illuminating go-to product and get the effortlessly chic look that is celebrity-approved and super simple.

Made with fair trade honey, The Body Shop‘s Honey Bronze collection, launching this May, is not only super gorgeous, but good for the planet, as well. The ultimate must-have? The Honey Bronze Pressed Powder Compact ($18.50). This soft, satin-like powder will highlight your skin and give you that sun-kissed glow you’re looking for this summer.
With a natural finish, it will also even out your skin tone so your complexion will look flawless and radiant. The best part about this natural-looking bronzer is that it’s light so it won’t look like or feel like you have tons of makeup on. In fact, it actually feels comfortable and hydrates your skin without making it excessively oily.
If you’re looking for bronzing on-the-go, try the Honey Bronze Shimmering Powder ($22). In a convenient and compact tube with a brush included, sweeping on some shimmering bronzer has never been simpler. You cal also look the the Honey Bronze Bronzing Gel ($14) or Dry Oil ($14) for a darker complexion. Remember, these products hit stores in May 2011.Tags: bronzer, bronzing gel, bronzing powder, compact powder, Honey Bronze, online shopping, shopping, The Body Shop
Thanks to my lovely friends over at The Body Shop, I got the chance to meet with facialist to the stars, Molly Wash. Straight from L.A., Molly met with me at The Body Shop store on St. Catherine in Montreal and gave me her ultimate skin care tips. If her techniques are good enough for her celeb clients like Halle Berry, Brooke Shields and Amanda Peet, then they’re good enough for me!
Molly first tip is to never go to sleep with your makeup on. Never ever!Every single night, you should wash the day’s makeup, oil and dirt off before heading to bed. Nighttime is when our skin cells regenerate. If the pores are clogged with dirt, your skin will look dull and greasy and you’re likely to get way more breakouts. For cleansing the face, I really like Natrulift Softening Facial Wash ($14). It’ll cleanse your skin thoroughly without drying it out. It’s also enriched with whole pomegranate (not just pomegranate extract like most products). As you know, this fruit is loaded with antioxidants so not only will you be keeping your skin clean and healthy but you’ll be preventing premature wrinkles, too.
Molly also recommended exfoliating every day. That’s the second most important skin care tip ever. Exfoliation removes dead skin cells and stimulates the renewal of new ones. And with the dry, coarse outer layer removed, your glowing and radiant skin underneath can shine through. After exfoliating, it might be a good idea to balance your skin’s pH with a gentle product like the Natrulift Softening Toner ($14). Balancing your skin will keep it from drying out in certain areas after exfoliation.
To maintain your skin’s beautiful glow and keep it looking it’s best, opt for daily moisturizer day and night and don’t leave out the delicate skin underneath your eyes. Try the Nutriganics Smoothing Eye Contour Cream ($20). Eye cream is super important if you want to keep that area from developing premature wrinkles and if you want your entire face to look more vibrant.

Whether you have a special someone in your life or not, today is the perfect day of the year to indulge no one other than yourself. That’s right. Valentine’s Day doesn’t have to be about loving someone else. Is there an “I love me” day on the calendar? Nope. Instead share the love with an at-home spa evening.
Tonight, pamper yourself with some of the goodies I received from The Body Shop last week. Start with the Strawberry Body Polish ($16 — but on sale right now for only $10). A good scrub is a fabulous way to exfoliate your skin and make it feel fresh and brand new again. It’s a fundamental element to a fabulous spa treatment. Although the best part comes right after your relaxing bath.
I am addicted to the Strawberry Puree Body Lotion ($12). It smells absolutely amazing. It’s so good, I’m tempted to lick it right off my arms! It’s a really soft and gentle lotion that deeply penetrates the skin for long-lasting hydration. I love lathering myself in it and it leaves my skin feeling relaxed, calm and smooth.
This dazzling duo is a compact item I’ve come to adore over the last few weeks. I’m a huge fan of baked eyeshadows already, but for those of you who are unfamiliar with the concept, baked shadows are hand-made colours that are slow-baked for hours to ensure that the colour remains intense and hydrating.
Made with Community Trade organic olive oil from Italy, shea butter, vitamins A and E, and Community Trade marula oil from Namibia, this product leaves skin soft, supple and hydrated all day long.
The shade of Baked Eye Colour from The Body Shop ($16) pictured here is Amethyst. I love purple and it’s perfect for a daytime smoky look because it’s soft and subtle when applied lightly. I recommend applying the lighter shade on the lid and brow bone and smoothing the darker, shimmering shade through the crease with a crease brush. (TIP: I also like to dab a little of the darker colour on the outer corner of the eye for a professional touch.)
Amethyst is one of my personal favourites but there are other great shades to choose from including teal, copper and moonstone. This month and next, stay tuned for more holiday blogs which will include some fabulous, limited edition products from The Body Shop.
This product is one I am so anxious to share with you. Great products make us feel pretty and every gal enjoys that. But when a product gives back to the community, to me, that makes it even better.
Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream is a new product The Body Shop has just released to help stop the sexual abuse and trafficking of young girls. Every year, over 1.2 million minors become victim to sexual exploitation and abuse all over the world. This heinous crime is one that’s one the rise.
Endorsed by celebs like mega star Sienna Miller, ET Canada’s Rick Campanelli, Jamie Oliver, Keshia Chante and more, this product is one that’s gaining recognition. I have this cream and I can tell you that aside from the amazing feeling you’ll have after supporting such a worthy cause, you will still be going home with a fantastic hand cream.
Soft Hands Kind Heart Hand Cream is a rich, buttery cream that is instantly absorbed into the skin and leaves your hands feeling smooth and hydrated for hours. The product is on sale at The Body Shop (in-store and online) for $10. Approximately $5 from the sale of each bottle will be donated to help stop this horrible crime.
